Maynor Figueroa will not feature for Wigan in Tuesday's Carling Cup tie at Hartlepool as he awaits an assessment of an ankle injury.

Wigan are waiting for news of Figueroa after the defender was carried off on a stretcher at the weekend.

The Honduras international twisted his ankle late on in the 6-0 Premier League thrashing by Chelsea on Saturday.

He will not play at Victoria Park but forward Victor Moses (calf) is back in contention.

New signing Steven Caldwell is eligible after joining the club on a one-year deal today.
