Damian Scannell, Jon Nurse, Darren Currie and Gavin Tomlin are all in contention to step up to replace Benson, who has fired 43 goals in his last two seasons for the Daggers, when the two sides clash at The Valley.

The Daggers, yet to secure their first win in npower League One following promotion, have no new injury or suspension worries and Benson apart, manager John Still could name an unchanged starting line-up for the first-round tie.

Tomlin has recovered from the back injury he sustained in the opening-day defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, but Stuart Thurgood remains sidelined with a knee injury.
