Van der Vaart: Is expected to be fit

Rafael van der Vaart has made a surprise recovery and is expected to be fit for the crunch clash.

Manager Harry Redknapp had all but ruled the Holland star out of the Group F game after he came off during Saturday's Premier League defeat at Manchester United with a suspected hamstring injury.

Fellow midfielder Tom Huddlestone will also return after missing Spurs' last two matches with an ankle problem but goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is suspended, captain Ledley King and Vedran Corluka (both groin) are still out, while Jermain Defoe, Michael Dawson (both ligament damage), Jamie O'Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) are long-term absentees.

Spurs (from): Cudicini, Hutton, Bale, Gallas, Bassong, Kaboul, Jenas, Sandro, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Huddlestone, Palacios, Kranjcar, Bentley, Modric, Dos Santos, Van der Vaart, Crouch, Keane, Pavyluchenko, Pletikosa.
