The German midfielder was named on the bench for the draw with Rochdale but it is expected his experience will be required against Birmingham in the Carling Cup.

Aaron Wilbraham is likely to continue on the bench after making his first appearance of the season and another summer signing, Gary Mackenzie, is also expected to continue on the bench although it is expected he will make his debut as a substitute.

Luke Howell also looks set to continue on the bench and Jude Stirling may also be fit enough to be a substitute following a groin injury.

Stephen Gleeson remains sidelined with a muscle injury.
