Nunez: Pushing for selection

Leeds boss Simon Grayson could be tempted to make one or two changes for the visit of the Bluebirds.

Grayson has no new injury or suspension worries, but may want to tweak his starting line-up following his side's inept display in the home defeat to Leicester in midweek.

Goalkeepers Kasper Schmeichel (foot) and Shane Higgs (hamstring) are still not ready to return, so Grayson must stick with Blackburn's Jason Brown, who made his third appearance for Leeds against Leicester, or hand a debut to fellow loanee Ben Alnwick, who arrived from Tottenham last week.

Summer signing Billy Paynter (shin) edged closer to his first appearance for the club following his summer switch from Swindon, as did left-back Ben Parker, by completing 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek, but neither is expected to be included in the squad at this stage.

Striker Ramon Nunez is pushing for his first appearance after scoring for Leeds in the same reserve game.

Cardiff boss Dave Jones is likely to name an unchanged starting XI.

Striker Jay Bothroyd took a heavy blow to his foot, which has resulted in bruising, but he should be fine and is expected to start.

He is likely to partner Michael Chopra, who is set to make his third start since returning from ankle ligament damage, although whether Jones opts to rest him remains to be seen.

Captain Craig Bellamy will play from the off, most likely on the left side of midfield, having proved his fitness in Tuesday's 2-1 win against Coventry at the Ricoh Arena following knee trouble.

Right-back Adam Matthews returns to contention having been on Wales Under-19 duty and will be hoping to force his way onto the Bluebirds bench.

Midfielder Danny Drinkwater (thigh) and defenders Paul Quinn (knee) and Chris Riggott (match fitness) will miss out, but are not too far away from making their comebacks.
