Upson: Injured at weekend

West Ham are set to be without captain Matthew Upson and striker Frederic Piquionne for the clash after both went off injured during Saturday's Premier League defeat to Newcastle.

Midfielders Thomas Hitzlsperger (thigh), Zavon Hines and Jack Collison (both knee) are long-term injury absentees.

Dean Whitehead returns to Stoke's squad after serving a one-match suspension against Manchester United at the weekend for accumulated bookings.

Danny Collins is likely to miss out after sustaining an injury against United so Danny Higginbotham is set to come into the side along side the likes of Tuncay, who came off the bench to score on Sunday, and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Ricardo Fuller could play some part despite nursing a shoulder problem, but Marc Wilson is cup-tied having played for Portsmouth earlier in the competition.
