Boyd: Back from ban for Posh

Forward George Boyd is back in the picture as Peterborough host Stockport in the FA Cup.

Influential Boyd has missed the last three games through suspension following his red card against Brighton last month but will return to give the Posh a much-needed boost.

Gary Johnson's side were handed a demoralising 5-1 home defeat by Charlton at the weekend and the manager may make changes.

On-loan defensive duo Lewin Nyatanga and Marcus Williams are unavailable but captain Grant McCann will play after he withdrew from the Northern Ireland squad to face Morocco on Wednesday to help out his club side.

Winger Tommy Rowe will not face his former side because of a groin injury and midfielder Lee Frecklington is also out after he suffered ankle ligament damage.

Stockport have been boosted ahead of their FA Cup first-round replay at Peterborough after Wes Fletcher extended his loan spell into a second month.

Fletcher ended his first month's loan with a superbly-taken goal to give County a 1-0 win at Bury on Saturday.

The two clubs have now agreed to extend the 20-year-old's stay at Edgeley Park and Stockport captain Paul Turnbull reckons he will continue to prosper.

It was Fletcher's first goal in six appearances for Simpson's side and Turnbull said: "The manager kept saying to him that he would get a chance and it finally happened for him."

Watford defender Tom Aldred joined County on loan last week but is ineligible to play in the FA Cup as he signed after the first match at Edgeley Park, which ended 1-1.
