Tate: Suspended for cup clash

Swansea will again have to do without Alan Tate, Neil Taylor and Andrea Orlandi.

Vice-captain Tate serves the final match of his three-game suspension having already sat out of the New Year's Day victory over Reading and Monday's defeat at Leicester.

Fellow left-back Taylor has this week been ruled out for a month having received scan results on an ankle injury sustained against the Royals.

Manager Brendan Rodgers could line up as he did at the Walkers Stadium with right-back Angel Rangel switched across to the left and youngster Ashley Richards starting in his place or use Albert Serran in the left-back slot.

Midfielder Orlandi, meanwhile, has been ruled out for around two weeks with a slight thigh strain also sustained in the 1-0 win over Reading, although Rodgers is not short of options in midfield.

After a hectic festive period, whether the Northern Irishman opts to rotate his ranks again for the visit of the League One outfit remains to be seen.

Kem Izzet and David Perkins return to the Colchester squad for the FA Cup trip to Swansea.

Izzet is fit again after missing the last two matches through illness and fellow midfielder Perkins returns from suspension.

But defenders Marc Tierney (virus), Magnus Okuonghae and Brian Wilson (both ankle) are still on the sidelines along with long-term absentees John-Joe O'Toole and Morten Knudsen (both knee).

Striker David Mooney has extended his loan spell from Reading until the end of the season and will be involved but Liam Henderson was recalled by his parent club Watford and has since joined Aldershot.

Rookie defender Ben Coker, who has been on the bench for the last three games, is cup-tied after his loan spell with Chelmsford earlier this season.
