The goal came after 25 minutes when Bennett picked up a passing clearance on the edge of the box to fire home past Glovers goalkeeper Stephen Henderson from 25 yards.

In the second half, the Seagulls almost doubled their lead when a shot from Bennett was deflected onto a post.

Yeovil pushed hard for an equaliser but substitute Andy Williams failed to connect with a far post header in the 70th minute.

The result left the Seagulls four points clear at the top of League One and took them another step towards promotion to the Championship.
