Schneiderlin: Knee injury

Schneiderlin: Knee injury

Charlton manager Chris Powell looks likely to restore Gary Doherty to the starting line-up.

The defender returned to the squad for Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Dagenham having missed the previous three games with a hamstring problem.

He could partner Christian Dailly in central defence after Dailly came through 90 minutes at the weekend following his own hamstring injury.

Tottenham loanee Dean Parrett made his debut against the Daggers and after impressing in central midfield should retain his place.

On-loan Leeds left-back Federico Bessone is back in full training and in contention after his recent hamstring problem.

Midfielder Johnnie Jackson (Achilles) and goalkeeper Rob Elliott (hip) remain sidelined and Kelly Youga (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins has no fresh injury or suspension concerns.

Brazilian midfielder Guly Do Prado and back-up goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski returned from hamstring and knee injuries respectively to take their place among the substitutes for the 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and remain in the squad.

Oscar Gobern will sit out the second game of a two-match ban following his straight red card at Bournemouth, while fellow midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin and Lee Holmes and striker David Connolly remain sidelined.

Schneiderlin misses out with a knee injury, meaning the club's only two fit central midfielders, Richard Chaplow and Dean Hammond, will continue.

Winger Lee Holmes is still struggling with an ongoing knee problem, which has hindered his season, while veteran striker Connolly still has a groin problem.

The Saints could move into the second automatic promotion place with a win.
