Burnley boss Eddie Howe may opt to shuffle his pack against the Brewers.

Howe guided the Clarets to a 2-1 win at Portsmouth on Tuesday to register his first win since taking charge at Turf Moor.

The former Bournemouth manager made one change to the side which drew 0-0 at Scunthorpe on Saturday, with Steven Thompson replacing Ross Wallace in the starting line-up.

Striker Martin Paterson (thigh) could remain absent and midfielder Chris McCann will definitely miss out as he continues to recover from a long-term knee injury.

New signing Charlie Austin is cup-tied but Howe has no other major concerns, and said: "It's difficult to pick an 11 at the moment and it's difficult to pick a bench because all the lads have impressed."

Calvin Zola and Nathan Redmond could make their debuts for Burton.

Striker Zola has been signed on loan from Crewe until the end of the season following the departure of Shaun Harrad to Northampton.

Pacy winger Redmond is eligible for the cup following his arrival on loan from Birmingham.

Defensive trio Andy Corbett, Darren Moore and Nathan Stanton have been nursing injuries but they are expected to be fit.

Burton have not played since the third-round victory over Middlesbrough on January 8.

The game at Bradford was called off due to a frozen surface, while the previous match at Macclesfield was postponed as a mark of respect following the death of Town midfielder Richard Butcher.
