Johnson: Set to miss out

Johnson: Set to miss out

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is set to make several changes.

Craig Gardner - goal hero in Wednesday's Carling Cup semi-final extra-time win over West Ham - is doubtful with an ankle injury along with defender Roger Johnson (calf) and striker Cameron Jerome (hamstring).

McLeish is also considering resting the likes of veteran skipper Stephen Carr and midfielder Barry Ferguson ahead of next week's Premier League meeting with Manchester City at St Andrew's.

On-loan Tottenham winger David Bentley will be available after being cup-tied against the Hammers, while Maik Taylor, Stuart Parnaby, David Murphy, Jordon Mutch, Jean Beausejour, Kevin Phillips and Keith Fahey are also in contention.

Coventry manager Aidy Boothroyd must decide whether to hand Birmingham fan Ben Turner a place in the squad after three months on the sidelines nursing a knee injury. Former Blues skipper Lee Carsley will definitely miss out on an emotional return to his old employers having undergone double Achilles and hernia surgery, but Gary McSheffrey, who also made the cross-city switch last summer, is set to line up on the wing for the Sky Blues.

Birmingham (from): Foster, Taylor, Carr, Parnaby, Johnson, Jiranek, Ridgewell, Murphy, Bentley, Larsson, Bowyer, Ferguson, Gardner, Fahey, Mutch, Beausejour, Hleb, Jerome, Phillips, Derbyshire, Zigic.
