Wigan defender Emmerson Boyce will miss out due to a hamstring injury which is likely to sideline him for a fortnight.

Manager Roberto Martinez is set to make a number of changes from the side which drew 1-1 at Liverpool on Saturday.

January signing Conor Sammon is ineligible as he was not available for selection for the first clash between the two sides.

Bolton will be without Zat Knight and Daniel Sturridge at the DW Stadium.

Knight is expected to miss the next four to six weeks after damaging ligaments in his right knee in Sunday's 2-0 win over Everton while Sturridge, who has scored three goals in three games since arriving on loan from Chelsea, is cup-tied.

David Wheater will come in for Knight while Trotters boss Owen Coyle plans to make up to five other changes as he gives an opportunity to some of his fringe players.
