De Jong: Battling to overcome an ankle injury

City boss Roberto Mancini will take a 'roll-call' before deciding his line-up.

Assistant-manager Brian Kidd revealed Nigel de Jong is battling to overcome an ankle injury, whilst James Milner has a hamstring problem.

However, Mario Balotelli is fit and a typically industrious performance is expected from Shaun Wright-Phillips, even though it seems increasingly likely his future lies away from Eastlands.

"There is not a problem with Shaun," said Kidd. "He has a really good mentality and is going to be a very important part of our squad from now until the end of the season.

"It is the same with Mario. With matches every three or four days, it is fantastic to have him back."

Notts County boss Paul Ince could have Liam Chilvers available for the game.

The 29-year-old defender, who has been suffering from a knee injury, played 75 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly in midweek and is likely to be included in the Magpies squad, although only among the substitutes.

However, winger Lewis Gobern is doubtful with a thigh problem and on-loan midfielder David Martin will miss out with a groin injury.

Winger Alan Judge also misses out again with a foot injury.

Loan duo Conor Clifford and Kevin McDonald are ineligible as they were not registered with the club before the original tie with City, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

City (from): Hart, Given, Richards, Zabaleta, Boateng, Kompany, Lescott, K Toure, Kolarov, Barry, Vieira, Milner, De Jong, Y Toure, Wright-Phillips, Silva, Balotelli, Tevez, Dzeko, Jo, Razak, Guidetti.
