Eastwood: Missing for Sky Blues

Striker Chris Wood is vying to make his first start for Birmingham in the midlands derby with Coventry.

The 19-year-old came off the bench to make his debut in last weekend's opening defeat to Derby but is pushing Adam Rooney for the lone striker's berth.

Manager Chris Hughton continues to be without strikers Marlon King (knee) and Nikola Zigic (groin).

Fellow frontman Cameron Jerome heel is still sidelined and continues to be linked with a move away from Blues, with Bolton the latest club to be linked with the 24-year-old.

Defender Scott Dann was an unused substitute at Derby but is in contention to play despite Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly stepping up their bids to prize him away from St Andrews.

Coventry boss Andy Thorn will be without striker Freddy Eastwood once again for the midlands derby at Birmingham.

Eastwood (hamstring) has missed the first two games of the season and continues to be sidelined along with defenders Ben Turner and Jordan Clarke, who are nursing knee problems.

Midfielder Gary Deegan (thigh) is likely to be sidelined once again but Thorn is boosted by the return of skipper Sammy Clingan after he missed the Carling Cup defeat to Bury on Tuesday due to being on international duty with Northern Ireland.

Carl Baker missed the embarrassing loss to the Shakers in midweek and will be out once again as he serves the second of his three-match ban following a red card in the opening-day defeat to Leicester.

Defender Richard Wood (thigh) will also be missing after being forced off at half-time against Bury.
