Elliot: Powell wants goalkeeper in

Charlton boss Chris Powell hopes to include goalkeeper Rob Elliot for the visit of Scunthorpe.

Elliot has attracted interest from Newcastle but Powell says he will still pick the 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to agree a new deal.

Powell has named the same starting line-up in all three matches this season and been rewarded with three wins and top spot in League One.

That means winger Danny Green has had to wait to make his full debut after joining from Dagenham due to the form of fellow winger Scott Wagstaff.

Full-back Andy Hughes is also set to be on the bench against the club he left in the summer.

Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill will assess the fitness of winger Jimmy Ryan ahead of the trip to Charlton.

The summer signing has missed the last two games after hobbling off with a dead leg midway through the first half of the Carling Cup win at former club Accrington.

Yet Knill said: "I'm hopeful he will travel with us and be able to go on the substitutes' bench."

Defender Eddie Nolan (toothache) and striker Chris Dagnall (sore back) missed training on Thursday but Knill expects the pair to be available.

However, Jordan Robertson is out until December with a broken ankle while Cliff Byrne continues to miss out with a back problem.

Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat to Oldham left Scunthorpe with just two points after three games.
