Johnson: Could return to squad

Huddersfield midfielder Damien Johnson could return to the squad for the home game with Colchester for the first time in eight months following knee surgery.

Johnson, signed for a second season on loan from Plymouth in the summer, damaged cruciate knee ligaments in the 2-1 home win over Brighton in December and has been sidelined since.

The former Northern Ireland international could be joined in the squad by fellow midfielder Anton Robinson.

Robinson, a summer signing from Bournemouth, sustained a hamstring strain on his debut against Bury on the opening day.

Goalkeeper Alex Smithies has been ruled out for up to three more months following surgery to resolve knee cartilage damage, so Ian Bennett will continue.

Otherwise, manager Lee Clark has a fully-fit squad to choose from as the Terriers look to extend their new club record of 28 league games unbeaten, which they set in midweek after a goalless draw at Hartlepool.

Andy Bond returns to Colchester's matchday squad for their trip to Huddersfield.

The midfielder has so far failed to feature in any of United's four matches this season having suffered a head injury in a collision during a pre-season friendly.

Yet he returned to play 90 minutes for the club's reserves on Wednesday afternoon and will be in contention at the Galpharm Stadium.

Goalkeeper Ben Williams (viral infection) also played 45 minutes as he stepped up his recovery and, although not ready to compete for the number one spot against the Terriers, whether he is able to take his place on the bench remains to be seen.

Colchester will be without forward Ashley Vincent, who has been ruled out for around six weeks with ligament and muscle damage to his left knee.

On-loan winger Michail Antonio made his debut in Tuesday's 2-0 home defeat to Charlton, a result which ended the club's unbeaten start to the league season. And manager John Ward could opt to tinker with his line-up in the aftermath.
