Jewell: WIll make changes

Paul Jewell is set to send out a much-changed Ipswich line-up.

New signing Jimmy Bullard is poised to make his second Town debut having re-signed for the club permanently on Thursday following his three-month loan spell at Portman Road last term.

Striker Daryl Murphy, who has joined on a season-long deal from Celtic but also spent five months on loan with the Tractor Boys in 2009/10, could also play.

Jewell has also completed the signing of centre-back Ibrahima Sonko on a one-year deal.

Jewell's urgency to find reinforcements has been accelerated by back-to-back 5-2 and 7-1 defeats against promoted clubs Southampton and Peterborough.

Town's cause at London Road last Saturday was not helped by the double dismissal of Lee Martin and Tommy Smith and the pair now face respective three and one-match suspensions. Midfielder Lee Bowyer is struggling with a hamstring injury while centre-back Ivar Ingimarsson (thigh) remains missing.

Leeds striker Billy Paynter is expected end his five-game injury lay-off by returning to the squad.

Paynter was a second-half substitute in the opening-day defeat at Southampton but has been sidelined since with a thigh strain.

Luciano Becchio is closing in on a return following a hamstring injury that has delayed his start to the season.

The Argentinian is hoping to play some part in the home game with Crystal Palace on September 10 but fellow forward Davide Somma remains a long-term absentee following knee surgery.

Midfielder Michael Brown will not feature for the third game running as he is nursing a calf problem but defender Tom Lees, who missed the midweek Carling Cup win at Doncaster due to a knock, could return to the squad.
