Woods: Boost for Terriers

Woods: Boost for Terriers

Huddersfield defender Calum Woods is expected to be back in contention.

The right-back missed the midweek penalty shootout defeat to Bradford in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after being forced out of last Saturday's win at Brentford with a hamstring strain.

Liam Cooper, on loan from Hull, was recalled to the back four on Tuesday night but suffered a back spasm at half-time and his place in defence could go to Antony Kay.

Central defender Jamie McCombe sits out the final game of his three-match ban, meaning skipper Peter Clarke will continue at centre-half.

Midfielder Oscar Gobern was forced off in midweek with a dead-leg but is expected to be fit after returning to training. Goalkeeper Alex Smithies (knee) will remain sidelined until January.

Stevenage boss Graham Westley could restore Darius Charles to his starting line-up.

The defender returned from a knock as a second-half substitute in Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at AFC Wimbledon and ended up playing 75 minutes as his side were knocked out on penalties.

Goalkeeper Chris Day will start after being rested in that game, meaning Alan Julian will revert to the substitutes' bench.

Winger Jennison Myrie-Williams is still nursing the hamstring problem he suffered during the 1-0 defeat to Carlisle last month and is unlikely to be fit.

Striker Chris Beardsley will again be involved after returning from his back injury in midweek, while Rob Sinclair (knee) and Don Cowan (ligaments) remain absentees.
