Kitson: Could earn start against Ipswich

Manager Paul Jewell has no new injury concerns as Ipswich entertain Pompey.

Jewell has named an unchanged starting XI for five consecutive games and will have the chance to stick with his preferred line-up once more.

Defender Reece Wabara (hamstring) and midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (ankle) recovered from minor knocks to appear from the bench in the Tractor Boys' 2-2 draw with Cardiff on Saturday and will be pushing for a start.

He told the Green'Un: "We have one or two bumps and bruises from Saturday as you always do. With three games in a week, we have to make sure we temper our training."

Striker Daryl Murphy is available after recovering from a hamstring injury and could be involved.

However Jewell is unlikely to break up the strike-partnership of Jason Scotland and Michael Chopra after both netted against the Bluebirds.

Dave Kitson could return to the Pomepy's starting line-up for the trip to Town.

The striker appeared as a second-half substitute in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Barnsley after recovering from the rib injury which had kept him out of the previous five matches.

Caretaker bosses Guy Whittingham and Stuart Gray have no new injury concerns and will otherwise be tempted to stick with the side which secured Pompey's third win of the season.

Ricardo Rocha was restored to the defence for his first start in two months and Luke Varney returned in attack following a three-match suspension.

Midfielder David Norris will go back to Portman Road for the first time since he left to join Pompey over the summer.
