Chaplow: Knee trouble

Midfielder Richard Chaplow looks set to miss out for Southampton.

The former West Brom player picked up a knee injury in the surprise 2-0 defeat at Bristol City on Saturday and was substituted after just seven minutes.

Morgan Schneiderlin came on to replace him and could be handed a start against the Tigers as the Saints seek to return to winning ways.

Dan Harding should return to the squad after the defender missed the last three games with a knee injury, but striker David Connolly is still suffering from a groin problem and will not play any part.

Nigel Adkins side have won all nine of their home league matches, scoring 24 goals and conceding only five.

Hull striker Aaron Mclean will return to the squad following suspension.

Mclean, who missed Saturday's home defeat to Burnley after reaching five yellow cards, could return alongside Matty Fryatt up front.

But the Tigers will be without suspended midfielder Paul McKenna, who sits out an automatic one-game ban after reaching five yellow cards. Tom Cairney will be hoping to return to the side in his absence.

Caretaker-manager Nick Barmby, who has no other new injury or suspension problems, will retain Peter Gulacsi in goal following the Hungarian's fine display on Saturday, so Adriano Basso will have to stay patient on the bench.

On-loan striker Martyn Waghorn (hamstring), winger Martin Pusic (hip) and midfield pair Seyi Olofinjana and Richard Garcia (both knee) remain sidelined.
