The Tottenham winger has not featured under current manager Gary Speed after injuries ruled him out of the entire Carling Nations Cup campaign and the Euro 2012 defeat to England.

The 22-year-old is set to feature against the Socceroos and Speed said: "Hopefully Gareth will feature, he has looked good in training this week and we are keen for him to play a part tomorrow.

"He had a great season last year and hopefully he can kick on from there for Spurs and for Wales."

Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy is expected to be handed a starting role despite starting the season without first-team football after finding opportunities limited under Roberto Mancini.

One man who will not feature is Sheffield United striker Ched Evans.

Evans was last week charged with rape - a charge he strenuously denies - but Speed insisted off-field matters have had no impact upon his decision.

He added: "Ched will play no part tomorrow night, but that does not relate to anything else.

"He is carrying a bit of an ankle knock and that is the reason."
