Ashley Grimes opened the scoring for Dale after six minutes, and they were awarded a penalty on 28 minutes when Albion skipper Steven Reid lunged in on Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro, with Gary Jones coolly slotting in to make it 2-0.

Akpa Akpro made it 3-0 in the second-half to kill off any chance of a West Brom comeback to give the League One side an impressive pre-season win.
