Sheffield United should include new loan signings Billy Clarke and Matt Phillips in their squad.

The Blackpool pair signed one-month loan deals in time to debut in the Steel City derby.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, on loan from Wolves, has returned to his parent club for treatment after sustaining a hamstring injury in the recent Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Rotherham.

But another loanee, Reading defender Marcus Williams, is back in contention after missing the last two games due to a dead-leg.

Skipper Nick Montgomery is in line to make his first league start since August. The midfielder played the full 90 minutes last week against Rotherham after missing the previous six matches due to an ankle injury.

Sheffield Wednesday pair David Prutton and Ryan Lowe are pushing for returns.

Midfielder Prutton has missed the last three games due to a thigh strain, while fellow summer signing Lowe has yet to start a game for the Owls due to an ankle problem that has restricted him to two substitute appearances.

Defender Reda Johnson will be available following his return from international duty with Benin and midfielder Liam Palmer is back in contention after two appearances for Scotland Under-21s.

Winger Jermaine Johnson is hoping to make his first start following suspension, while manager Gary Megson has no new injury concerns.

Wednesday, who have won their last four league games and five of their last six, drew 1-1 with the Blades in their last meeting in April 2010 when both sides were in the Championship.
