Malky Mackay is likely to make changes for the Bluebirds - the first of two meetings with Sven-Goran Eriksson's side in the space of six days.

Tom Heaton, Rob Earnshaw, Darcy Blake, Rudy Gestede and Joe Mason will all be pushing to start against the Foxes having been named on the bench for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Blackpool.

The likes of defenders Paul Quinn, Dekel Keinan and Gabor Gyepes and striker Jon Parkin will also come into the reckoning.

It remains to be seen whether Mackay will throw in deadline-day signing Ben Turner as the centre-back continues to step up his recovery from a knee injury which has sidelined him since last November.

A decision must also be made on whether fit-again midfielder Stephen McPhail, who may also need more match practice, is ready for action, although Mackay could opt to include them among his substitutes.

Cardiff meet Leicester for a place in the last 16 of the League Cup before welcoming the Foxes back to the Welsh capital for Sunday's Championship showdown.

Michael Johnson will make only his second Leicester appearance in the clash.

The former Manchester City midfielder has shaken off a knee injury and will be one of a number of changes made by manager Sven-Goran Eriksson following Saturday's win over Brighton.

Chris Weale, Jeffrey Schlupp, Lloyd Dyer, Steve Howard, Frank Moussa, Sean St Ledger and Neil Danns could all come into the side.

Full-back Michael Ball may also be included if he overcomes a calf problem but veteran midfielder Matt Oakley has sustained a back injury and will miss out.

Winger Paul Gallagher remains sidelined after damaging ankle ligaments against Barnsley last week and striker David Nugent is still out with a hamstring problem.
