Cardiff will be without Kenny Miller for the game after the striker sustained a freak injury in the home win over Barnsley.

The Scot had earlier scored, but collided with his own defender Ben Turner and needed 20 stitches to close the head wound.

Fellow striker Rudy Gestede is also missing for the Bluebirds as he continues his recuperation from a hamstring injury.

"It's hard to tell how long Kenny will be out for but Rudy will certainly be weeks rather than days," manager Malky Mackay told WalesOnline.

Mackay is confident his side can make the quarter-finals, adding: "Every game we play is a priority. I think you have seen that in the Carling Cup games so far.

"It will be no different on Tuesday night. I will pick a team that I believe can go and beat Burnley."

Burnley are hopeful Jay Rodriguez will be fit.

The England Under-21 international suffered a facial injury during the dramatic 2-1 victory over Coventry on Saturday and had to be replaced by Zavon Hines with 15 minutes remaining.

However, the striker has been given a boost with the news his nose is not broken and should be in contention for the visit to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Striker Charlie Austin was named among the substitutes against the Sky Blues due to a slight toe complaint, but came off the bench to net the winner and is pushing for a starting place.

Manager Eddie Howe will be without midfielder Junior Stanislas, who is cup-tied, while striker Martin Paterson is still occupying the sidelines with a thigh injury.

Michael Duff misses out with a knee problem.
