Scannell: Out with a thigh injury

Barnsley midfielder David Perkins will return to contention following suspension.

Perkins, a free summer recruit from Colchester, missed the weekend win at Peterborough due to a one-game ban under the totting-up procedure.

Danny Drinkwater, on loan from Manchester United, returned to the starting line-up in Perkins' absence on Saturday and manager Keith Hill must decide whether to retain him alongside skipper Jacob Butterfield in central midfield.

Nile Ranger made his first start for the Tykes at Peterborough since arriving on loan from Newcastle and is expected to continue his partnership up front alongside Craig Davies, who has fired six goals in his last six matches.

Andy Gray could return to the squad following an Achilles injury, but Hill already has fellow front men Ricardo Vaz Te and Danny Haynes on the bench.

Palace will be without Sean Scannell and Dean Moxey for the trip.

Winger Scannell is still sidelined by the thigh injury he suffered at Manchester United last week, although he could be back in time to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Left-back Moxey was also injured at Old Trafford and his knee problem is set to keep him out until Christmas.

Boss Dougie Freedman made 10 changes to his Carling Cup semi-finalists for Friday's 1-1 draw against Derby so the likes of Anthony Gardner, Nathaniel Clyne, David Wright, Kagisho Dikgacoi and Wilfried Zaha will be back in the reckoning.

Jonathan Williams (broken leg), Alex Marrow (ankle) and Lee Hills (knee) are still on the sidelines.
