Thanks for your company here tonight... hope you enjoyed the commentary and thanks for sharing your views with me, Rebecca Stephenson via twitter and e-mail. Hope to see you for another game soon.
But Wales can be proud - a spirited effort... and Gareth Bale stood head and shoulders above his team mates. They will hope to get players like Joe Allen and Craig Bellamy back as soon as possible.
The truth is though that Belgium could and shoul have had more - they dominated midfield with Dembele, Fellaini and Hazard... they just needed someone to finish their creativity off.
That's it Wales start their campaign with a 2-0 defeat... a great effort after playing 65 minutes with 10 men.
And that one drifts harmlessly out of play
The answer is no.. for now, they have another
Bale shows his class, runs through and hits a shot but its deflected for a corner.. any consolation for Wales here??
Vertonghen gets a booking
Yet another corner is cleared to the edge of the box and hammered over by Vermaelen - not rivalling Vertonghen in the pile-driver stakes (Spurs win that battle!)
And they look to have picked up another injury - Adam Matthews is limping to the sidelines now
The Welsh heads have gone down now.. They'll be happy to hear the whistle.. got to focus on Serbia on Tuesday
Ashley Williams received a yellow card in the aftermath of the goal as did Vokes
Vokes came on for Morison too, sorry I missed that one
What a strike by the Tottenham man - there was no stopping that.. but whether it was a free kick was debatable
Free Kick just outside the box for belgium - HIT BY VERTONGHEN!!!!
King comes on for Edwards for wales
Gillet booked for Belgium - a professional foul on Bale
Belgium's 12th corner of the game is cut out at the near post
Great turn from Fellaini who feeds Mertens inside the box, he wraps his leg around edwards' and claims a penalty but the Referee says no
Wales replace Church with Robson-Kanu
Corner won for Belgium by de Bruyne, headed away by Morison
Wales are not getting the rub of the green from the officials - a blatant push by Kompany is unpunished on the edge of the box
Another Chelsea player comes on - De Bruyne replaces Dembele
Now, the ball is at the other end, a Belgium corner.. their 10th of the game.. the ball is delivered eventually from 25 yards out, but it's offside
Corner to Wales, but its cleared
on a serious note.. Wales win a free kick.. what a fantastic strike by Gareth Bale from 30 yards is palmed away fantastically
Just noticed the referee looks like Juan Sebastian Veron... with comedy facial hair
Vertonghen looks to see if he can get in on the act - plays a one-two with Mertens but his the side netting
Lukaku should've done better there - backpost header.. or it should've been - but he shouldered it
Great break from dembele but when the ball's worked to the edge of the box for Witsel he sidefoots it wastefully over
Lukaku swings it in but it drifts out of play over Fellaini's head...
They have all the creative players in the world - great talents - but they seem to need a poacher..
Another poor shot - this time from Witsel.. if Belgium had end product this could be a cricket score - but I don't see that happening
Mertens gets into the box, but hits a weak shot... a pea-roller we called that at school!
Belgium start off with their patient passing play again Mertens looking to run at Gunter again - he's given him a torrid time so far
and off we go again
Belgium bring on Chelsea's Lukaku for Kevin Mirallas at the start of the second half
Phil Jones - Belgium what a team! Fellini and Kevin Mirallas
Dan - I think the score will be 2-1 Belgium
Joe - I think the final score will be 3-1 Belgium and hazard and Fellini will score for Belgium and bale to score for Wales
Joe Cooper þ- As much as it pains me to say it, Chelsea have got a fantastic talent in Hazard.
1-0 to Belgium probably deserved. Wales have looked lively but with just 10 men its going to be a tough ask. Its such a shame Wales are without so many players.. Joe Allen et al may have made a difference.. and James Collins had started well before his red card.. but since then Hazard and Fellaini have looked a cut above the rest, toying with the Welsh defence.
Its Half Time
two minutes of added time to go in the first half
Keep your tweets coming in @1rebs or e-mail me firstname.lastname@example.org - I'll put some of them up on the commentary at half time and as we continue in the second half
This time Fellaini heads over
Wales have to make sure they don't capitulate now, get to half time and regroup.. they've done well to be undone from a set piece... another corner won
It was a corner from the left and a fantastic header - like a bullet into the corner from the Manchester City man
VINCENT KOMPANY SCORES FOR BELGIUM
Long ball through and Bale beats the Keeper to the ball outside the box, but the linesman gives a free kick for a high boot - thats harsh, very harsh
Strike from a long way out by Vermaelen but its over
Chance for Morison there as Bale puts a great ball in but he was on his heels and the defender got a foot in first
Fellaini and Hazard are just dictating this game.. Hazard has the freedom to play wherever he wants and Wales just can't control him
Brief respite as Wales win a corner.. Ashley Williams wins it but can't get enough on in and it's cleared
Hazard crosses toward Fellaini.. it drops to Mertens but he skies it - thats a let off again
Header over by Vincent Kompany
Hazard crosses and the ball is driven towards goal by Fellaini but its blocked - thats a let off. wales can't get the ball now
So Wales down to 10 men - this could be a struggle now... unfortunately you just can't do that these days, especially with a continental referee
He's had a fantastic start to the game but he's jumped in with two feet - very bad cahllenge... the referee was right on the spot and at probably had no choice
JAMES COLLINS IS SENT OFF
And there's a bity of justice as the ball goes straight into the arms of Myhill
Cleared but Belgium retain posession, Ramsey tackles well but the referee gives a free kick - that was a poor decision
Mertens drives it across again but its cleared for another corner
Belgium probing on the edge - excellent cross from Mertens but equally good defending from Collins again
Mirallas wins a corner off Blake.. bit of aerial ability here - but James Collins wins the battle
Remember to keep your opinions coming, what have you made of the start, who is impressing you - tweet me @1rebs or e-mail email@example.com
Bale has his first run, reaches the byline but chips it to the back post where there is no red shirt - should've pulled that one back to the penalty spot I think..
Church hits a nice ball into the channel for Edwards but its cut out.. Wales are doing well in the posession stakes here - didn't expect them to have this much of the ball
Hazard hits a raking long ball.......straight out of play!
Very late challenge from Fellaini on Ramsey - lucky to avoid a booking there
Belgium seem content to knock it around... only injecting pace when they get to the edge of the box - but Wales are showing good discipline
Great atmosphere being created inside the Cardiff City stadium and wales look lively early on
Ramsey tries a 1-2 with Edwards but he's not on the same wavelength as the Arsenal man
Carlos Jimenez I reckon 1-2 to Belgium, hazard pulling all the strings in the midfield and feeding Fellaini :-)
half the stadium thought that was in
Great chance for Wales, Morison flicks on but Edwards blasts it into the side netting...
good passing play from Belgium - game seems to be set with wales looking to counter attack
long throw from Adam Matthews headed away by Fellani
Foul by Hazard gives Myhill his first touch
First attack by belgium snuffed out by Ashley Williams
The Belgian fans are in good voice but there's a few empty seats around in the home sections
Here we go then - can wales compete with this ridiculously expensive line-up
George White - I'm predicting 2-0 Belgium , Mirallas & Hazard
Wales have lost Joe Allen to a virus tonight
