Live: Ukraine 0 France 2 F/T

Please stay tuned for all the post-match reaction.

Thank you for joining us this evening and I hope that you enjoyed the commentary.

The game was delayed by 55 minutes due to heavy down pour and lightning but when it eventually got going, it was France that got into their stride quicker. In truth, they never got out of third gear but it was enough to give them a victory. Qualification from this group is still open wide and it will go down to the last game but France have certainly boosted their chances. As Ukraine, it's not all over. A win over England in their final game would put them through.

Co-host Ukraine will be disappointed with that result but France are now up and running at Euro 2012.

France have had the better chances which have fallen to Menez but he failed to find the goal. Shevchenko has had Ukraine's best effort but the score is still goalless at the Donbass Arena.

Well after a delayed of 55 minutes this Group D finally got on the way, but so far it has failed to sparkle into life.

The rain has stopped and the water off the pitch has been cleared and the players look ready to go.

As we approach six, the players are walking out back onto the pitch.

The referee is out on the pitch testing how the ball will roll on the pitch but the game will go ahead it seems.

There are a team of groundsmen out on the pitch at the Donbass Arena clearing the surface water as we get closer to the hour mark when hopefully we can get this game going again.

It's just a little over 10 minutes to go before that happens so while we are waiting for the game to get going again, let me know which player has impressed you the most and who your tips are for top-scorer.

We've just received confirmation that the game will definitely resume at six, so that's good news folks.

Anthony has sent in a considered email and he is refusing to succumb to the hype around Spain. He says: I think your all wrong about Spain being the team to watch, they played awful against Portugal and playing Ireland wasn't difficult at all if you watched it, it's was like brazil playing forest!! There was only going to be one winner. I think as much as I hate to say it Germany look the team to beat.. 2 tough games and 2 wins. Spain havnt been tested

So now that we have had your tips on who will win Euro 2012. Which player or players have impressed you the most so far? Also who are your tips to win the Golden Boot. Let me know your thoughts.

However, Jack believes it could be one of the more unfancied teams such as Croatia. He says: As you are talking about euros i have a feeling coatia will make the semis because they have been in good form lately and im looking forward to seeing them beat spain so spain will be on te verge of dropping out. so Croatia to succeed.

Ben shares Gabriel sentiments about Spain being the team to beat: Spain are the most impressive so far. Especially with other "favourites" faltering, I can't really see anyone challenging Spain. 4-0 proves they've still got the firepower going forward, and their defence is looking solid. This tournament looks like it might be a great opportunity for lesser teams (Russia, Ukraine, England) to progress quite far. I'll be excited to see who the semifinalists are! Might be a couple of surprises

But Gabriel is going with the holders Spain: Hi - I have to say, I was impressed with the convincing manner in which Spain beat Ireland. Before the tournament I thought this might be the end of Spain's glory years with a few good players missing, but they've proved me wrong with a good start. Still think Germany to win + Gomez top scorer. Been disappointed with the Dutch, Russia possible dark horse.

However, we have just heard some encouraging news. The game will be re-started at six o' clock if there is an improvement in the weather. So fingers crossed we can get some football this evening folks.

If the referee is unable to re-start the game due to the bad weather, then the game will be replayed on Saturday.

But who will challenge them for their crown. France or Germany? Or maybe an unfancied team such as Croatia or Russia. England perhaps? Who are your tips for Euro 2012?

Which team have you been most impressed with? Spain again underlined they will be the team to beat as they try and defend their title with a 4-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.

While were are waiting for the game to resume, let's get your thoughts on the Euro 2012 so far?

As soon as we get any word on when the game will resume, we will definitely let you guys know.

The lightning appears to be getting stronger but both sets of players and fans are hopeful it will be resumed.

There has been no annoucement on how long the delay will be but the referee has undoubtedly made the right decision.

4
The referee has taken the decision to stop the game as lightning began to break out. The rain is continuing to lash down but for the safety of the players the referee has had to take the players off the pitch.

3
Pyatov is forced to run out and clear a through ball to Menez, which is dealt with by the Ukrainian 'keeper.

2
Ukraine are not allowing the French to settle as Lloris is forced to clear a backpass from Mexes.

1
France get the game on the way as rain lashes down onto the pitch. In the seven games between the two sides, Ukraine have yet to win.

With both national anthems now completed, kick-off is just minutes away.

The Ukrainian players all have the right arms on their chests as they sing their anthems. They look focused and determined for the task ahead.

This is the kind of atmosphere every top class footballer would want to test himself. The French players all link arms as they belt out their national anthem.

The two teams are walking out onto the pitch and the level of noise from the fans is immense.

Most of the pundits are tipping France for this one but buoyed by their home support the Ukraine cannot, and should not be ruled out.

Much will rest on Shevchenko's shoulders again this evening. He is two goals away from a half century of goals for his country and he became the oldest player to score a brace for his country since Roger Milla's brace for Cameroon in the 1990 World Cup aged 38.

Do you guys out there agree with him? Can Ukraine make it two wins from two games? Let me know how you see this one going. Get you emails in.

Timal has emailed in saying: This is the team that will win the Euro 2012. France will win today. +2 or more goals. Benzema & Ribery will score. Shevchenka will score for Ukraine.

Menez has the dribbling ability to go past defenders and his inclusion is most certainly a statement of intent from the French. They know this a game that they have to win.

Menez has enjoyed a good season with PSG while Clichy also finished the campaign strongly with Manchester City.

Laurent Blanc has made two changes from his side's opening game which they drew with England. Evra has been replaced Clichy and Menez has come in for Malouda.

Ukraine: Pyatov, Selin, Khacheridi, Mykhalyk, Tymoschuk, Gusev, Yarmolenko, Nazarenko, Konoplienka, Shevchenko, Voronin subs: Koval, Goryainov, Kucher, Shevchuk, Rakitskiy, Butko, Garmash, Aliev, Rotan, Milevskiy, Seleznyov, Devic

The teams are in.................

Ukraine coach, Oleh Blokhin, could adopt a more defensive approach knowing a point would nudge his side closer to the quarter-finals.

However, France are unbeaten in 22 games and thumped the Ukraine 4-1 the last time the two sides met in 2011.

Lead by their talisman Andriy Shevchenko, who bagged a brace, against Sweden to give them a 2-1 win, Ukraine will enter this game knowing they have a chance to further make their mark on this tournament.

Co-host Ukraine will qualify for the knockout phase of the tournament should they manage a win this evening. If they needed any motivation ahead of this game, then they certainly have it.

If you could email me at Soriebah.Kajue@bskyb.com and I will post the best comments up onto the site.

My name is Soriebah, and as always at Skysports.com we would any comments and opinions from you football loving fans out there.
