The Tottenham winger capped a fine debut with a goal in Friday's 4-1 win over Montenegro but will be monitored in the run-up to kick-off at Wembley on Tuesday.

"Andros took a slight knock on Friday so we will have to monitor that but we are hopeful he will be okay for Tuesday," said Roy Hodgson, speaking at his pre-match press conference.

Hodgson will be forced into at least one change against the Poles, with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling vying to replace the suspended Kyle Walker at right-back.

The manager was coy when questioned over any further shuffles but insisted midfield pair Jack Wilshere and Michael Carrick - who started on the bench against Montenegro - were still in with a chance from the off.

"I think I'll keep the ideas about the team to myself for the moment, not least of all because the players haven't been informed," Hodgson said.

"I'm not certain they have as clear an idea as they would normally do as there's been no functional work done (in training).

"I'm not even certain the players are certain who's going to play at right-back in place of the suspended Kyle Walker.

"They (the substitutes) were in contention against Montenegro and they are in contention again.

"In Michael Carrick and Jack Wilshere I have two world-class players. We are blessed in the midfield department.

"In fact I would be so bold as to say any combination of four would get the job done."

England probable line-up: Hart, Jones, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines, Lampard, Gerrard, Townsend, Welbeck, Rooney, Sturridge.
