PSV Eindhoven missed out on the opportunity to establish a five-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie with a 1-1 draw at Heracles Almelo.
With FC Twente and AZ Alkmaar seeing their games postponed, Fred Rutten's men were seeking a win to put more space between them and their title rivals.
It looked like they were going to get it when Zakaria Labyad gave them the lead in the 19th minute, but Everton's 76th-minute equaliser meant PSV had to settle for a draw.
The visitors started brightly and Kevin Strootman had the first chance in the 10th minute with a long-range shot which Remko Pasveer saved with one hand.
Labyad and Strootman combined to set up Jeremain Lens for a shot which was too high eight minutes later, but soon after PSV were ahead when Labyad beat defender Mark Looms and gave Pasveer no chance with a powerful 20-yard shot into the corner.
PSV were on top in a game of limited chances, until Heracles pushed strongly in the final 30 minutes.
Brazilian Everton struck the bar on the hour with a powerful shot, before the visitors countered with an effort from Ola Toivonen which went wide nine minutes later.
The hosts were denied 15 minutes from time by PSV goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson, who saved from Kwame Quansah, but soon after the home side had a deserved equaliser when Quansah saw his shot saved by Isaksson and Everton was able to head in the rebound.
Heracles looked the more urgent in the closing stages, but failed to create any worthwhile chances as the clock ticked down.
