Johnson: Doubt for Owls

Johnson: Doubt for Owls

Reda Johnson is a doubt for promotion-chasing Sheffield Wednesday's clash with Paul Dickov's Latics after he suffered an injury in the 2-0 win at Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield on Saturday.

The defender was forced off after just 17 minutes of the victory and may struggle to recover in time for Monday's lunchtime clash.

Mark Beevers came off the bench to replace Johnson and comes into contention to start.

Wednesday skipper Rob Jones will be looking for an immediate return to the starting XI at Hillsborough after serving a one-match suspension.

However, fellow central defenders Danny Batth and Miguel Llera marked the division's top scorer Jordan Rhodes out of the game on Saturday, so Owls manager Dave Jones may prefer to select an unchanged duo at the back.

Oldham will be without Jean Yves M'voto after the Frenchman was sent off in the 1-0 defeat to Charlton.

M'voto was dismissed for his second bookable offence as the Latics slumped to their eighth defeat in 10 games.

On-loan Manchester City forward Harry Bunn will be looking to hold on to his starting place after coming in to replace Chris Taylor who is expected to miss the rest of the season with ankle ligament damage.

Sunderland loanee Oumare Tounkara will both be hoping to earn a spot in Dickov's starting line-up should the Oldham manger elect to shuffle his pack in order to force a change in fortunes at Hillsborough.

Goalkeeper Alex Cisak (shoulder) remains on the sidelines alongside long-term absentees Paul Black (hamstring) and James Wesolowski (shoulder).
