What a game. A breathless 90 minutes sees eight goals at Old Trafford, with United squandering a 4-2 lead to give Man City hope of closing in with the gap now at six points with the Etihad side to face Wolves later this afternoon. Thanks for your company and I'll see you all soon.
FULL TIME. Manchester United 4 Everton 4.
Ferdinand draws a superb save from Howard! The ball falls to the defender on the edge of the area and Howards tips it over the bar!
It's all hands on deck for Everton as Pienaar clears away from Carrick, with no-one in attack for Everton as Heitinga boots it away.
Rooney's ball out to Hernandez is poor and United's latest attack comes to an end with two more minutes of injury time remaining.
After a couple of initial clearances from Everton, the ball lands in the path of Rafael who finds Evans in the box with the centre-back's effort narrowly over the bar!
Rooney's effort is charged down by Heitinga, before Jagielka concedes a corner from Nani's delivery.
90 Hernandez is on with Valencia the man replaced.
Fellaini fumes as he is penalised for a tacke on Rafael just inside Everton's half.
Jelavic runs through on goal but as United sit back and let him attack the striker's shot is someway over the bar.
86 Scholes comes off with Jones replacing him in a United change.
Fellaini plays in Pienaar in far too much space and the midfielder calmly slots home to give Everton a dramatic equaliser! What a game and there's still five minutes for a team to claim a winner.
85 GOAL! PIENAAR SCORES!!
84 Distin is taken off with Cahill on to boost Everton's attack.
Again, another brilliant finish as Ferdinand heads away under pressure from Fellaini but Jelavic is there to pounce on the volley and ensure a dramatic finish!
83 GOAL! Jelavic nets again!
United's play in the final third is out of this world as Rooney ends up crossing to the far post with Nani's header deflecting off the bar! Excellent move and it deserved a goal.
Carrick decides to have a go but it's not the best effort from 25 yards and it drags horribly wide.
United press forward after a restricted Everton attack, but Nani can't find Welbeck as Everton get the bodies back to force the hosts back.
McFadden draws a committed block from Ferdinand as Everton win a throw-in, where Hibbert finds Jelavic offside as a result.
Another good chance for Everton as Pienaar's hard work results in Jelavic being presented with a shooting position but he can only drive the ball into the side netting.
Pienaar shows a burst of pace to get past Rafael but his ball into the six-yard box is smothered by De Gea as Jelavic and Fellaini lurked.
The attack ends with McFadden looking for Jelavic but it's a dire ball and it bounces out for a United goal kick.
Pienaar holds up play for Everton, as they venture forward with patience, as United sit back and allow them to pass without ever looking too threatening.
The wonderful goals continue as the link up play between Welbeck and Rooney is lovely, with the latter coolly converting past Howard to again increase United's lead by two.
70 GOAL! Rooney scores!
Now we're up the other end as Rooney drives an effort at goal but it's straight at Howard who shows good hands to collect.
And they could be even as Pienaar curls an effort towards De Gea's left with the United keeper equal to it. This is a terrific game now.
It's something out of nothing but it's a cracking goal from Fellaini who shows great technique to fire past De Gea from Hibbert's ball. The Toffees are back in it!
67 GOAL! Fellaini scores!
United are in the ascendancy now as Valencia looks to get in on the act, firing a powerful effort over from 25 yards.
63 Osman is coming off for Everton with McFadden the man taking his place.
What a goal. Sublime passing from United as Carrick exchanges passes with Welbeck before Nani is the man who swoops in to chip the ball over Howard and surely wrap up the points!
61 GOAL! Nani scores!
Beautfiul move from United as Scholes works the ball into Valencia, with Heitinga staying strong to clear away.
59 The next booking is for Neville, whose frustration boils over as he clatters into Rafael on the right.
It's controversial, but what a goal. Osman went down and stayed down in the build up, before Nani's header lands at Welbeck's feet, the striker finding a yard before curling an effort into the top corner. Everton are furious but United are ahead!
57 GOAL! Welbeck scores a beauty!
Evra plays a delightful one-two with Nani but the former's ball to Rooney is poor and easily cut out by Neville.
Scholes bumps into Howard, and while it seemed harmless, you could tell the Everton keeper wasn't impressed. Moments later, Nani charges forward and forces Heitinga to clear away.
Osman's ball out wide is very poor and Distin can't retrieve it as Rafael resumes possession for the hosts.
Jelavic looks to control Hibbert's ball but he rather obviously uses his hand and the referee awards United a free-kick.
Evra clashes with Osman and both are down, with medics attending to both players.
Pienaar has the right idea as he looks for Jelavic but his ball is far too pacey and the striker has no chance of latching on to it.
Rooney goes down in a grapple with Hibbert in the penalty area but it seemed inoccuous and the referee waves play on.
Fellaini looks for Jelavic, but this time Rafael does a better job against the striker, forcing his header into the path of De Gea.
47 Evra picks up a booking for a tackle on Gibson, but the referee stops Everton taking the free-kick quickly, much to their chagrin.
United kick off the second half.
Sefo tweets: "As a united fan I've got a bad feeling about today! Late winner for everton! United need to start being ruthless with teams!!"
Neither manager is happy at half-time as both have words with Mike Jones, but it's been a thoroughly entertaining half at Old Trafford with both sides arguably guilty of spurning chances to have extended the goal count. HALF TIME. Man United 1 Everton 1.
45+2 Distin is harshly penalised for a tangle with Valencia, and is even booked for it. Very tough on the Everton defender.
Two minutes of time is added on.
Osman again ends up in a shooting position but he has forgotten his shooting boots for this half as he lets a soft shot land in the grateful arms of De Gea.
Nani sets himself for a shot, but with a lot of space the winger can only fire a dismal effort wide.
Fergie is fuming on the touchline as the United boss feels his side should have had another penalty as Rafael again collides with Distin. United play on with a Valencia throw-in.
It's a really nice goal from United as Nani crosses in and Rooney meets it with precision to fire past Howards from close range. Game on again!
41 GOAL! Rooney scores!
Fellaini loses out to Scholes as United march forward, with Rooney dropping deeper and deeper, before Jagielka clears Nani's delivery.
Rafael claims a penalty against Osman but nothing is considered by the ref, and replays show the right-back could easily have had a free-kick on the edge of the area.
Scholes nearly finds Welbeck with a ridiculous ball but Howard also reads the pass and sprints out to boot the ball clear.
Evans takes a crunching tackle from Heitinga on the ankle and the United man receives treatment, looking in some distress.#
United look to reply instantly but Scholes' rifled effort takes two touches and ends up being far more comfortable for Howard than it should have been.
It's a superb header from Jelavic, who latches on to Hibbert's delivery at the far post, looping an effort over the helpless De Gea. United's title bid is under a bit of pressure to say the least now!
33 GOAL! Jelavic scores!
Nani shows his trickery before delivery another ball from the left, with that man Howard once more reliable. That tactic has not worked at all for United so far.
Gibson eludes Scholes skillfully, before letting rip with an effort from 20 yards that has De Gea scrambling but ends up trickling wide.
Evra again shows his pace to get round Hibbert, but Howard is again equal to his delivery as the American claims with confidence.
Fellaini backs into Evra illegally, conceding a free-kick but Pienaar is then cool as he calmly plays back to Howard under the threat of Carrick.
Evans makes a terrifiic block on Gibson who looked to rifle an effort away from Valencia's header, Really good, even game so far.
Gibson looks for Felliani, with good defending from Ferdinand denying the striker as Everton win a corner.
Instantly though, Scholes latches on to lazy play from Everton, but Rooney is offside trying to meet the midfielder's through ball.
Nani's delivery is straight down the throat of Howard and the Everton keeper claims comfortably before setting Everton away.
United continue to attack, and Nani earns them a corner with his cross deflected off Neville.
Welbeck is played in by Scholes, but a brilliant block from Jagielka ensures his effort doesn't reach goal, with Nani's proceeding delivery cleared away by Pienaar.
Fellaini stretches but he can't keep in Neville's pacey ball towards goal and Man United have a goal-kick.
Distin gets up to Gibson's delivery but Valencia does well to nudge into him, with the left-back's header narrowly bouncing wide.
Rafael is fantastic as his perseverance helps him cut past Heitinga but Pienaar covers and ends up allowing Howard in to smother the ball.
Evans does excellently as he fires the ball off Jelavic near the byline and earns a goal-kick to the approval of the United faithful.
Scholes lets rip from 25 yards but it was always curling and ends up some way wide after a good United move.
A scuffle results in Welbeck going down injured and receiving treatment before Carrick is judged to have to fouled Osman.
Rooney's first chance of the game occurs as Evra crosses from the left but the striker is backed into by Jagielka and he can only direct his header wide.
Evans does well to keep his balance and clear under pressure from Jelavic, but Scholes is forced back and the ball ends up back with De Gea.
United press but lose momentum after a Carrick pass that forces Evra to track back, before Nani shoots again and this time draws a save from Howard.
Distin is again on hand to head away Scholes' cross out to Valencia, with United's first chance then falling to Nani who fires an effort wide from 25 yards.
Fellaini shows strength to intercept Scholes, but Pienaar can't work an opening for Jelavic on the left and United hack the ball away through Rafael.
Distin makes two strong headers against Rooney and Welbeck, but his ball down the line to Pienaar ends up out of play.
Another chance this time for Osman, the midfielder nearly capitalising on slack United play but he can only drive his effort wide. Nervy moments for the hosts early on.
First chance of the game falls to Everton as Osman finds Jelavic with a superb through ball but the striker's shot is poor and straight at De Gea.
Evra can't find Rooney as Heitinga clears away for the Toffees, with both teams playing patient football when in possession.
United are restricted to their own half under solid Everton pressing, with Jelavic dispossessing Scholes before Evra wins it back.
Everton pass the ball smoothly, with Osman letting a shot away which smacks the head of Ferdinand, his header on the rebound landing in the arms of De Gea.
Everton game the game underway.
Brian Smith writes: "Really tense about this one. Everton up to seventh, going strong and with the added incentive of staying in front of Liverpool. Good to see Nani starting hope he can work some magic with Valencia getting balls into the box. Going for a tight 2-1 to United."
Zed has: "Got a feeling Everton can nick this game & make the Manchester derby even bigger than it is. 1-0 to everton Cahill to score."
For those fancying a flutter, Manchester Utd are 4/11 with Sky Bet to go eight points clear this afternoon, albeit temporarily until Manchester City take on Wolves later this afternoon. Everton have been in superb recent form and can be backed at 7/1 while the draw is at 4/1.
Ashley Young is dumped to the substitutes' bench as Nani returns for a Manchester United side looking to tighten their grip on the Barclays Premier League title race by beating Everton at Old Trafford. It is the Portugal winger's first start since the beginning of March and the only change to Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up from last week's win over Aston Villa, when Young won a controversial penalty. Steven Pienaar is back for Everton after he missed the FA Cup semi-final defeat of Liverpool, whilst Phil Jagielka is named in central defence for the Toffeemen, who have not beaten United away from home in the league since 1992.
