With United being held to a 4-4 draw by Everton earlier in the day City are now three points behind the league leaders. However, it is a sad day for Wolves, who will be playing Championship football next season.
The defeat means Wolves' relegation from the Premier League has been confirmed.
The full-time whistle goes and City have run out 2-0 winners.
90+2
The rain is falling, but Wolves' fans remain in full voice.
90+2
Yaya Toure sends a curling effort just wide. Decent attempt.
90
Two minutes of injury time will be played.
89
Wolves fans know their side is virtually down now, however, they are not letting their heads drop.
88
City are happy passing it around right now.
86 Third and final change from City with Kolo Toure replacing City's second goal-scorer Nasri.
85
Lescott heads the ensuing corner just wide.
85
Zabaleta crosses and nearly an own goal from Stearman. De Vries did well to get down and push the ball wide for a corner.
84
Davis' low drive is held by Hart.
83
Awful attempt from Aguero. He is clean through, but rather than shooting he tries to be clever and loses the ball.
82
City still on the front foot. I can't see Wolves getting anything out of this now. It's been a valiant effort from Connor's troops.
79
Wolves have a corner though. Perhaps one back could set up a grandstand finish.
78
It's all City now. That second goal has finished Wolves off, who will be relegated with a defeat.
77
Change for Wolves with Ebanks-Blake coming on for Fletcher.
76
Fine save by De Vries from Johnson.
75 Another change for City with Johnson replacing Tevez.
75 Enforced change for Wolves with Berra replacing the injured Bassong.
74
Wolves were unhappy Tevez won a free-kick for protecting the ball. City took the ball quickly. Tevez played the ball for Nasri who stroked home. He wasn't pressurised as Bassong was injured running back.
74
Controversial goal however!
74
Bassong also seems to have pulled up with a hamstring injury.
74
GOAL! City have scored a second through Nasri
73
Excellent work by Doyle wins a corner for the home side.
72
City really are unsure what to do. They are lacking direction. Can Wolves capitalise?
70
Mistake from Henry. Tevez tries a shot, but it's blocked.
70
20 minutes to go and this remains firmly in the balance.
70
Toure's cross from Barry's through-ball fails to pick out Tevez.
Attempts on target: Wolves 2 City 3
67
Kightly tries a left-footed effort, but it's neither a cross nor a shot.
65
Kompany sends the ball forward, but no one chases and it's straight to De Vries.
64
City come forward again, but it's a woeful pass from Toure. They've looked poor at times.
63
City's set-piece comes to nothing, although it's better now from the visitors.
62
Good break from Toure. Finally some life from City. He picks out Tevez. The striker turns and crosses, forcing Wolves to concede a corner.
61 Wolves make a change of their own with Doyle replacing Edwards. Attacking switch by the home side.
60
Bassong presses Tevez and although it's a foul it's lifted the home crowd. Wolves are going down fighting.
59 Change for City. Playmaker David Silva is going off and he's replaced by Dutchman De Jong.
58
De Jong is ready to come on for the visitors.
58
Nasri clears to anywhere. City are sitting back and that is handing the initiative to the home side.
57
Lescott heads behind for a corner now. It's all Wolves!
56
Fletcher heads the ball goalwards, forcing Hart to parry to safety. Good save by England's number one.
56 Toure is booked for a lunging tackle on Kightly.
55
You certainly get the impression that City are a bit nervous about things.
54
Jarvis tries an effort from distance. He had time and space, but his attempt is poor and well off target.
54
Tevez's shot is blocked by Stearman.
53
City a bit short of ideas right now. They seem unsure whether to keep things tight or whether to go for more goals.
50
More good work by Jarvis. He bursts past Zabaleta, but he's unable to pick out anyone in the middle with a cross.
48
Tevez goes in late on Edwards. No booking though. Again, probably the right decision.
47
Neat break from Jarvis, however, Toure finally halts his progress.
No changes from either manager at half time.
46 Wolves get the second half underway!
The teams are coming back out for the second half.
what a gd first half to wolves but were 1-0 down we need to get back to get a chance to stay up for 1 more week come on wolves gd goal tho for city - from kieran in wolverhampton
Elsewhere, it's goalless at Anfield during the interval as Liverpool host West Brom.
45+1 The half-time whistle goes and it's City who lead 1-0 courtesy of Aguero's goal.
45
One minute of injury time is due to be played.
Attempts on Target: Wolves 1 City 3
45
Poor though-ball from Silva fails to find Tevez.
43
The Scottish striker is back on his feet and looks just fine to continue.
43
Fletcher is now down with an injury.
42
A coming-together between Toure and Davis. I don't think there was anything in that.
41
Wolves playing a bit of keep-ball, making the visitors chase to win possession.
39
Tevez's shot is blocked. City still pressing.
39
Not a lot happening right now.
37
Wolves have a made a game of this so far, although City could have been out of sight with the chances they've created.
35
Fletcher is close to connecting with Kightly's back-post cross.
34
Tevez's shot is saved. It's looking easy for City at times.
33
Woeful left-footed cross from Aguero goes straight out of play.
32
Kightly is perhaps a touch fortunate to escape a booking for a late challenge on Clichy.
31
The offside flag goes up against Aguero.
29
Positive response from Wolves to going a goal behind.
27
Superb work by Clichy down the left. He delivers an excellent cross for Aguero who controls before slotting home past De Vries. Lovely finish this time.
27
GOAL! Aguero scores!
26
Wolves in possession right now.
24
Tevez's ambitious shot from distance from the angle is easily saved by De Vries.
23
Tevez comes within a whisker of latching on Nasri's through ball.
20
Another chance for Aguero and again he misses the target. He makes space for himself outside the penalty area but scuffs his effort wide.
19
Poor backheader from Stearman. Aguero has more time and space than he realises and tries a first-time effort that was poor.
19
Just the one shot on target so far and that was from Davis.
18
Woeful attempt by Barry from distance. City on top right now.
16
Oh so nearly! Nasri rolls the ball just wide. Free-flowing move. Silva to Zabaleta and then to Nasri who is unable to hit the target.
14
City happy passing the ball around in midfield right now.
12
Stearman's overhead kick goes well over.
12
Superb save from Hart to deny youngster Davis.

10
Some good work by Kightly wins a corner for Wolves off Clichy.
9
Wolves are pressing City well. The visitors are not being given any time in possession.
A quick hello to Danny in Dallas

6
De Vries punches the ball clear, even though it looked easier to catch the effort.
5
Aguero now wins a corner for City.
4
Good pressure from the visitors, however, a foul by Silva allows the home side to clear the danger.
3
Wolves are penning City back right now.
2
Zabaleta heads the ball clear from Jarvis' corner.
2
Bassong's deflected effort drifts just wide. Hart was at full stretch. Another corner for Wolves.
2
Kightly wins a corner for the home side.
1
Tevez fires a shot just over. He was picked out by Zabaleta and he ran at Wolves' backline before unleashing an effort.
City get the contest underway! It's a cracking atmosphere here.
I reckon man city will put 5/6 goals on wolves today cause tevez and aguero are on fire and will put a good few away today I hope and get them 3points w need - jarrad Prosser
@dumper08 I say city win 4-1 tevez 2 silva aguero and doyle
Just five minutes until the big kick-off. The teams are in the tunnel.
Wolves interim manager Terry Connor has made four changes. Keeper Dorus de Vries was handed his league debut in place of the injured Wayne Hennessey. On-loan defender Sebastien Bassong, available after suspension, midfielder Dave Edwards and winger Matt Jarvis returned at the expense of Christophe Berra, Anthony Forde and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake respectively. City boss Mancini made one change with midfielder Yaya Toure replacing Nigel de Jong as his side looked to cash in on Manchester United's draw with Everton.
I reckon if Wolves stand any chance against this revitalised City, they are going to have to take the game to them. Too many teams have tried to hit them on the break, but when City are in full flow, they are like Barcelona. If Wolves attack from the off it will be a cracker but if they concede early, We are going to be looking at a cricket score - Peter
Manchester City (1/5 to win) are set to cut the gap at the top to three points this afternoon by beating Wolves (11/1) who have lost their last eight home league games. Carlos Tevez has scored four times in three Premier League games against Wolves, he's 9/4 to score first and 10/1 to score a hat trick whilst another 6-1 City victory this weekend is 50/1. Roberto Mancini insists the team are taking things one game at a time ahead of the big kick-off against Wolves.
I think now is the perfect time for city to win and regain a chance of lifting that trophy after the 4-4 draw at old trafford. I predict 4-0 city, tevez(2), aguero and yaya! come on you blues, ctid! - Holly
Today is a massive game for both sides. City need to show today that they have what it takes to win the title and all 3 points is a necessity. Wolves have to win if they have any chance of staying in the league. It will be a very close game in my opinion but if city can go two or three goals ahead it will crush wolves spirits and the floodgates will open. But if Wolves can keep it tight and keep City out for 60 minutes or so then they will have a real chance of picking up all 3 points as City get frustrated too easily when they can't break down the opposition so patience will be key today for City. 2-0 City in my opinion.-Darragh
TC is setting up the team to defend, then hit City on the break if they can. If Manchester City score early Wolves will have to attack which could end in a hatful for Tevez & Aguerro. If Wolves can keep them out for long enough they may just stand a chance of causing a massive 1-0 upset, otherwise this game could end up 5-0 or 6-0. Rob
Can City close the gap on United to three points or will Wolves give their fading hopes of avoiding the drop a shot in the arm?

Wolves are doing what every other team has done against us this season by throwing every man behind the ball, show's there threatened by the class we have in our ranks this will be easy 5-0 to the best team in England ! Adam G
I'm surprised they haven't got odds on whether Mancini will say the title is finished after the game if City win! I'm saying 3-0 City, if we score early we could be having another goalfest. Come on you blues! Bradley, Bolton
Hi james, after that game earlier as a man utd fan im hoping wolves can pull of a miracle but can not see it happening so my verdict is man city 2-0 wolves. David G
@hogger96 think some people thinking that city will walk over wolves are wrong. There gonna put up a real fight today. 2-1 wolves. Luke
@JordanBlantern after united dropping point would be good if wolves can do us a favour! Then it will be pressure on at the etihad!
come on wolves plz can you win today if not were relegated i think it will be either 2-1 wolves 1-1 draw or 6-0 to city but im keeping my hopes up for wolves come on wolves - Kieran R
@SamIsNotATaxi This title race just gets more interesting by the game! Thrilling action at Old Trafford but this is Citys Game. 5 - 0
Connor has just been on Sky. Wolves are going for a changed 4-5-1 formation. Can Wolves put off one of the greatest upsets?
Hi fraser here. I think that it will be a tight game, Man City can capatilise on Man U's mistake, while wolves have to win otherwise they're relegated. Man City are class though so I think it will be 3 points to man city. Wolves 0-3 Man City

The teams are in for today's clash!
I don't think anyone can see wolves staying up- myself included and I think theres a possibility that they could become deflated and for man city to walk over them this afternoon- who will be boosted by evertons incredible draw at old trafford. With that in mind, I'm going to say this game could be a seventh heaven for Manchester city. Verdict- 0-7 - Gabriel S
Please Wolves win. Don't let Man City win another one of my Days. I think Wolves will win 2-1 comeback.!!!!! - Adam S
I think the old gold will suffer today after man u's result, only thing that wolves are now is a shop window. Championship champions 12/13 - Stuart M
Guy from Ireland here. Seeing Wolves with a handfull of Irish talent does make my heart want to see Wolves take the wind out of the Man City sails, however I believe that city will win this one, but not as comfortably as everyone thinks. Possible 0 - 2 scoreline for City.
The teams have already met twice this season. City ran out 3-1 winners over the Midlands side at the Etihad while they also secured a 5-2 success in the Carling Cup at Molineux.
I'm a life long City fan and totally expect City to do a professional job at Molineux. I cannot see a miracle for Wolves in this game. With Aguero & Tevez up front, I would like to see City flourish today. Confidence should be substantial following news of the Old Trafford result. City must see their chance to pounce..!! - Pete Swales
I'm James Pearson and I'll be talking you though today's match from Molineux. Please fire in your pre-match predictions to james.pearson@bskyb.com, I can also be followed on twitter @SkySportsPeo
Opta Stat: Wolves have lost their last eight home league games, the second worst run in Premier League history (Sunderland; 10).
I'm just awaiting confirmation of the starting line-ups. I fully expect Aguero and Tevez to start barring injury. Wolves really have nothing to lose and should at least have two up front in order to cause City problems at the back.
Opta Stat: In the three PL games that Carlos Tevez & Sergio Aguero have started together, the pair have netted 11 goals between them (Aguero 7, Tevez 4).
United's 4-4 draw with Everton means City are six points behind the leaders with a game in hand, while the clubs are set to go head-to-head at the Etihad Stadium on Monday 30th April.
After the incredible scenes at Old Trafford the title is now back in City's hands, however, they will needs to beat Wolves today and secure the points in the Manchester derby against arch rivals United. It's all the play for.
