Beattie: Suspended after this red card

Beattie: Suspended after this red card

United will be without the suspended striker James Beattie.

Beattie was dismissed in last week's 2-2 draw with Exeter for a two-footed lunge and, with the club opting not to appeal the decision, he was handed a four-match ban.

With the prolific Ched Evans now out of the picture, boss Danny Wilson looks set to go with Chris Porter and Richard Cresswell in attack, with the latter continuing to play on despite a shoulder injury.

Wilson said: "We haven't got everybody 100% fit, but we have got players willing to play no matter what. We have to make sure they're able to compete against a team that will be very committed against us."

Stephen Quinn started on the substitutes' bench against Exeter, but Wilson may want his creativity back in the side.

Several players are expected to play with knocks and niggles, while Nick Montgomery is in contention following his recovery from a calf injury, which cut short his loan spell at Millwall, though the tough-tackling midfielder is unlikely to start.

Stevenage boss Gary Smith has no new injury or suspension concerns.

He tinkered with a line-up which had remained unchanged for the club's previous four games as they saw off Bury 3-0 on the final day of the season to clinch sixth spot.

Craig Reid came in for Robin Shroot in attack and duly bagged the opening goal, meaning Smith is likely to keep faith with the same XI at Broadhall Way.

Shroot is likely to have to make do with a place on the bench, alongside Chris Beardsley.

Stevenage go into the game having tasted defeat just once in their last 16 games and having taken four points off the Blades this season, including a 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane two weeks ago after taking a two-nil lead.
