The home side started well and were in front after 11 minutes when Mathias Pogba fed Max Clayton on the edge of the area and he found space to hammer into the bottom corner.

It should have been two minutes later when Wanderers defender Zat Knight pulled up with an injury leaving Pogba through on goal but he could not find the target.

Bolton had the chance to level after 27 minutes when Pogba was penalised for handball. Petrov made no mistake, placing his penalty into the bottom-left corner.

The lively Pogba almost won it late on but his shot landed on the roof of the net.
