Paul Dickov's side have enjoyed better fortunes so far this summer and frustrated the Terriers throughout.

The visitors started the game brightly and Kallum Higginbotham forced the home goalkeeper into a fine save.

But the Latics grew in confidence as the first half progressed and Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies did well to deny Daniel Taylor.

Chances were at a premium after the break, but new Town defender Joel Lynch impressed throughout.

Dickov and his opposite number Simon Grayson know each other well from their time together at Leeds, but could not out-wit each other on this occasion.
