FULL-TIME: Aston Villa claimed their first league win of the season and their first at home since March thanks to goals from new signings Matthew Lowton and Christian Benteke against Swansea.

90+2
Swansea have only won four of the 17 league meetings with Villa now as the referee blows his whistle for full-time.

90+1
Villa counter-attack and Ron Vlaar shows neat footwork. A captain's performance today!

90
The Villa fans are loving this now as they get behind Lambert's side.

89
On home soil, the Villans have won just one of their last 14 Premier League games (W1 D5 L8), but it looks to be coming to an end today.

A debut goal for the Belgian international as he picks off Ashley Williams' poor back header to make no mistake from close-range.

88
GOAL VILLA! Christian Benteke

87
CHANCE! Luke Moore should have scored for Swansea with a close-range header, but Brad Guzan is right behind it.

86
Villa have worked hard this half and Swansea have seemingly run out of ideas.

85
At the other end Luke Moore turns and tries to ping the ball into the top corner, but it's wide of goal.

84
BAD MISS! It should have been a dream debut for Christian Benteke, but the striker contrives to miss the cross from about 3-yards out.

83
FINE EFFORT! Karim El Ahmadi's right-foot curler from the edge of the box is palmed away by Vorm.

82
Aston Villa are on a run of 13 Premier League games without a win (W0 D6 L7) remember!

81
Luke Moore is booed by the home fans as he looks to get his shot away, but it's well blocked.

80
YELLOW CARD: Eric Lichaj is rightly booked for bringing Nathan Dyer down.

79
SUBSTITUTIONS: Charles N'Zogbia replaces Brett Holman for Villa while Israeli striker Itay Shechter comes on for Leon Britton for the visitors.

78
CHANCE! Bent flicks the ball on for Benteke, but the Belgian striker's sidefooter is deflected wide of the target.

77
Bent and Benteke combine. A sign of things to come at Villa Park!

76
Vorm is out to collect Bannan's outswinger from the other side and now Swansea have the ball in possession.

75
Bannan's inswinger is met by the head of Ciaran Clark, but Michel Vorm tips the ball over the crossbar.

74
Some neat touches by Christian Benteke and he then attempts a curler, which is deflected wide for a corner.

73
Villa looks sharpe and Lowton's cross is cleared for a Villa throw.

72
SUBSTITUTION: Meanwhile, former Villa man Luke Moore replaces Danny Graham for the visitors.

71
SUBSTITUTIONS: New signings Ashley Westwood and Christian Benteke replace Stephen Ireland and Andreas Weimann for Villa.

70
PENALTY SHOUT! Nathan Dyer goes over Matthew Lowton's challenge in the box, but referee Lee Mason waves away appeals.

69
Looks like a double change for Villa coming up! And a couple of debuts to boot.

68
No end product for the visitors at the moment and Villa will look to take advantage.

67
Pablo Hernandez picks out Ben Davies down the left, but he overruns the ball and it's a goalkick to the home side.

65
Now it's Paul Lambert's turn to have a heated discussion with the fourth official. Something out of nothing really. The ball is back in play.

64
Swans boss Michael Laudrup is looking very animated on the touchline as Ron Vlaar receives a bit of medical attention.

63
Great play from Darren Bent, whose cross just fails to find Andreas Weimann in the middle.

62
'Ooh ah Ron Vlaar' steps in and smacks the ball down the field for a goal kick.

61
Nathan Dyer gets in behind the deliver the cross, but Guzan is there to hang onto the ball.

60
Pablo Hernandez is straight in the thick of the action as Ciaran Clark scrambles the ball away.

59
We're approaching the hour mark and the atmosphere inside Villa Park is a bit special today.

58
Let's see what the new £5.55million signing from Valencia has up his sleeve this afternoon. Can he rescue the Swans?

57
SUBSTITUTION: Pablo Hernandez replaces Wayne Routledge for Swansea.

56
It's fast and furious in the opening minutes of the second half and Ashley Williams is not moving so well in these early stages

55
OFF THE LINE! Leon Britton makes a stunning block on the line to deny Andreas Weimann a certain goal. I don't think he was sure how is stopped that, but he did, with his head and his stomach.

54
Ashley Williams heads the ball out for another corner.

53
Andreas Weimann falls over and then Darren Ben's shot is deflected over the crossbar.

52
Villa win a corner now and thje ball in falls kindly to Ciaran Clark and his flick with the boot towards goal is parried away by Vorm.

51
I remember watching Michael Laudrup in action for Denmark during the 1986 World Cup. He scored one of the greatest ever individual goals against Uruguay if I remember correctly. And he's got his Swansea side playing a very similar type of game.

50
Wayne Routledge just overuns the ball as Michael Laudrup gets off his seat to have a word with one of his players.

49
Karim El Ahmadi is put under serious pressure, but Brad Guzan is out like a shot to hammer the ball downfield.

48
Karim emails me to say: "Hey again. Glad to see Villa doing well. But time for a change though. Benteke for Bent and 2-1 to Villa!"

47
The visitors are shooting towards the Holte End in this half as referee Lee Mason blows his whistle for a foul.

46
The second half is underway and there have been no changes.

1600
Aston Villa are now 2/5 to claim victory with our friends at Sky Bet, who make Swansea 9/1 and the draw 3/1. My pre-match prediction of 2-1, which was 8/1, is now 5/1. Head now to Sky Bet to place your bets.

HALF-TIME: Matthew Lowton's first ever Premier League goal separates the sides at the break. The former Sheffield United defender collected Barry Bannan's corner-kick on his chest and his firm left-foot volley deceived Michel Vorm, who was already diving towards his left with the ball flying straight down the middle. Swansea were earlier denied by a superb double save from Brad Guzan, who stopped Ashley Williams' header and then Nathan Dyer's long-range strike.

45
Villa have worked hard and closed down in groups, although Swansea look very dangerous on the counter-attack.

44
Leon Britton's long ball fails to find Àngel Rangel's run from the full-back position.

43
SO CLOSE! Stunning pace from Nathan Dyer down the right and he fires in an excellent cross, but Danny Graham just can't time his run to apply the finish.

42
Darren Bent comes back from an offside position and the flag immediately goes up.

41
Wayne Routledge - who scored in Swansea's 2-0 win at Villa Park last season - is always looking to get on the ball.

39
YELLOW CARD: Michu throws a tantrum after bringing down Bannan and referee Lee Mason has no option but to book him.

38
CLOSE! Michel Vorm is down quickly at his near post to deny Andreas Weimann's right-foot swinger from just inside the area.

37
It's Villa who are playing some keep ball right now as they win a throw deep in Swansea territory.

36
YELLOW CARD: Maybe too much passion as Matthew Lowton is booked for a late challenge on Ben Davies.

34
The Villa Park faithful seem happy enough with the passion shown by their side so far this afternoon.

33
Now, the visitors break through Michu, but there is nobody in the middle as his left-foot cross comes into the box.

32
Thanks for the Tweets about me calling Michael Laudrup (Brian). I do apologise Swans fans! Easy mistake. Both legends though.

31
The ball is floated in, but Villa make a mess of it and allow the Swans to counter-attack.

30
Ashley Williams catches Darren Bent and this is in a dangerous position.

29
The striker is soon back on his feet and now Villa win a free-kick.

28
Now, Danny Graham is on the ground and in need of some medical attention.

27
Meanwhile, midfielder Brett Holman creates a chance as he skips a couple of challenges before attempting a cheeky chip, but Michel Vorm is alert to his effort and holds on tight.

25
Swansea win another corner and Michu - 4 goals in 3 games this season - attempts the spectacular from about 8 yards, but the ball flies over the crossbar.

24
Michu is always looking for space for the visitors and looks a real threat in these early stages of the match.

23
Jonathan de Guzman's delivery is well plucked out of the air by Brad Guzan.

22
YELLOW CARD: Referee Lee Mason books Ciaran Clark for a late tackle on Àngel Rangel.

21
Still Swansea dominate posssession, not at all worried by conceding that early goal and they come forward through the dangerous Dyer.

19
As we enter the 19th minutes, the home supporters stand up and give a round of applause for club captain Stiliyan Petrov.

18
Michael Laudrup doesn't look too flustered by that Villa goal, despite watching his side dominate the early proceedings.

Just the start Villa needed as the summer signing from Sheffield United takes the corner kick down on his chest before hammering his volley past Michel Vorm. The ball went straight down the middle of the goal and didn't appear to take a deflection. The Swans stopper will have to take the blame for that gaff!

16
GOAL VILLA! Matthew Lowton

14
Brian emails me to say: "I would like a confidence boosting win. I like PL approach and attitude with the players. Also, the youngsters around Villa Park will augur well for the future, need to survive this year. Villa Supporter for 60+ years."

13
The corner comes to nothing and Swansea look to counter-attack.

12
The men from south Wales have made the better start at Villa Park, although here come the hosts through Brett Holman and the Australian wins a corner.

11
Maybe that's why manager Lambert has kept faith in the American after opting to pick him ahead of Shay Given last weekend at Newcastle.

10
DOUBLE SAVE! Brad Guzan stops Ashley Williams' header from the corner before making a stunning save to deny Nathan Dyer from long-range.

9
Nathan Dyer is playing some of his best football of the season and he wins a corner.

8
Excellent run down the left from Eric Lichaj, but he fails to pick anybody out, although the ball does eventually fall for Andreas Weimann, although he fails to get a shot away.

7
The visitors keep the ball so well and that's something manager Brian Laudrup has continued to do at the club from south Wales.

6
Paul Lambert is looking anxious on the touchline as he watches the action.

5
The Seans win a corner, but Jonathan de Guzman's delivery is way too long and goes out on the far side for a throw to Villa.

4
Here come the visitors through Michu (and no Villa fans, I'm not talking about the nightclub by the same name in Birmingham) and he finds Danny Graham in space, but the striker is eventually crowded out.

3
Barry Bannan is looking very busy for the hosts, but the men in all-white don't seem to be too concerned.

2
Brilliant early pressure from Villa as Swansea's longest serving player Alan Tate, is put on some serious pressure.

1
We're underway then, about 30 seconds before 3pm (BST). But here come the home side through Andreas Weimann, whose deflected effort is easily held by Michel Vorm.

1459
Villa Park is packed and the sun is shining as the teams change ends, much to the disgust of the Holte End. The pitch is in immaculate condition as ever and we're just about ready to go here.

1458
Villans Snowflake Tweets: "An improved performance vs new, but momentum interrupted by internationals. Not as easy as some fans think. Draw would be decent."

1457
Karim emails: "Hey Raz. Looking for a Villa win. Bent's form could be crucial for us, but the Swans will definetely be out to win it, so I predict a 2-2 draw."

1455
Alex Tweets: "Can't wait see Dyer play today, time to prove his worth and show Hodgson who should be playing for ENGLAND!"

1454
Darren says: "I think it's all about the medium to long term for Villa at the moment, Lambert is building a project for the future. Hopefully the signings will strengthen Villa and give Swansea a good contest. The Swans are strong and in form but I'm going for a 2-1 Villa win: UTV!"

1447
Aston Villa are 5/4 to claim victory with our friends at Sky Bet, who make Swansea 11/5 and the draw 9/4. Villa's Darren Bent is favourite at 11/2 while Andreas Weimann is an 8/1 shot. New signing Christian Benteke is priced at 13/2 if he gets on during the match. Brett Holman is 11/1 while Stephen Ireland to score in 90 minutes is 9/2. Karim El Ahmadi to bag the last goal is an 18/1 shot. Meanwhile, the Swans' Danny Graham is a 7/1 shout to score first and in-form Michu is a 15/2 shot or how about 80/1 to bag a hat- trick at Villa Park today? New signing Pablo Hernandez, who starts on the bench, is 4/1 to score in 90 minutes and Nathan Dyer is 33/1 to score a brace. I'm going for a pre-match prediction of 2-1, which is 8/1. Head now to Sky Bet to place your bets.

1442
Meanwhile, Swansea are forced into two changes, with left-back Neil Taylor (broken ankle) and suspended centre-back Chico Flores replaced by Ben Davies and Alan Tate respectively.

1440
So, Villa boss Paul Lambert names an unchanged side but with a new captain. Dutch defender Ron Vlaar takes over the armband from striker Darren Bent as transfer deadline day signings Christian Benteke, Ashley Westwood and Jordan Bowery are named amongst the substitutes.

ASTON VILLA: Guzan, Lowton, Clark, Vlaar, Lichaj, Holman, El Ahmadi, Ireland, Bannan, Weimann, Bent.

SUBSTITUTES: Given, N'Zogbia, Agbonlahor, Westwood, Benteke, Bowery, Bennett.

SWANSEA: Vorm, Rangel, Tate, Williams, Davies, Britton, de Guzman, Michu, Dyer, Routledge, Graham.

SUBSTITUTES: Tremmel, Hernandez, Shechter, Moore, Ki, Agustien, Richards.

REFEREE: Lee Mason (Lancashire).

1435
Here come the teams...

1428
Don't forget, if you'd like to air your views before or during the match, email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me: @RazMirza and I'll publish as many as I can.

1423
Swansea fan Adrian emails me to say: "A fairly easy match for the swans. I'm going for a 2-0 win with michu scoring both. Definatly on form this season."

1418
Harry Peate is first to email me today and he says: "Regarding handing (Ron) Vlaar the captaincy, great decision as he is a born leader. Liking what Lambert is doing by making people earn there place, not sure whether Benteke will change our set up when/if he comes on due to aerial presence. Good selection by Lambert, hoping for all three points as I believe we were unlucky against Newcastle UTV!"

1415
I will confirm these changes once I have the official team sheets fans!

1414
For Swansea, Neil Taylor is out for the season after breaking his ankle against Sunderland, while Chico Flores starts a three-match ban after his red card in that game. Kyle Bartley (ruptured quad) and Garry Monk (back) are also out. Ben Davies and Alan Tate come into the Swansea back four with new arrivals Ki Sung-yueng and record signing Pablo Hernandez (£5.55 million fronm Valencia) named among the substitutes, but Dwight Tiendalli (from FC Twente) isn't among the names.

1412
And I can tell you Villa fans that Guzan starts in goal once again today with Andi Weimann supporting Darren Bent in attack

1411
Lambert has defended his decision to axe experienced goalkeeper Shay Given for the 1-1 draw at Newcastle and replace him with Brad Guzan. He said: "It is a decision I thought was right for the football club at that time and Brad was exceptional at Newcastle. Brad is in there at the minute. I'm pretty sure Shay will push him every step of the way. Nothing is set in stone."

1410
Swansea head to Villa Park sitting second in the Premier League table after picking up emphatic wins over QPR and West Ham and drawing with Sunderland. Villa, meanwhile, have just one point from their first three games, although they turned in an improved performance against Newcastle last time out.

1409
Former Manchester United defender Alan Tate is making a first Premier League start since the opening game of last term for Swansea today, as Chico Flores' suspension and Kyle Bartley's quad injury hand him the chance to stake a claim for a regular place. And the 30-year-old is determined to force his way into Michael Laudrup's plans. "We have got to go there with a gameplan and I am sure the gaffer has a plan in mind and we will try and implement that."

1408
Having watched that game in midweek myself, all I can say Villa fans is that Benteke is a real handful and is bound to give any defence a major headache.

1407
Lambert did splash out £7 million on Belgium international striker Christian Benteke from Genk, who is likely to line-up alongside Darren Bent today. He said: "I think Christian will be a handful, I watched him the other night for Belgium against Croatia and he was excellent, the way he played. He is only a young lad, he is only 21, but he will be a handful. Can he work with Bent? I've got my own ideas, we just hope they go and win us the game."

1404
Paul Lambert has included midfielder Ashley Westwood (Crewe), striker Jordan Bowery (Chesterfield) and defender Joe Bennett in the Villa squad and he is ready to give youth a chance. The Scot said: "I'm all for giving people opportunities to do the business."
