Cavanagh: Doubtful for Dale

Cavanagh: Doubtful for Dale

Rochdale captain Peter Cavanagh is set to miss out.

Cavanagh returned from a calf injury to face Burton a fortnight ago but a reaction to the problem ruled him out of wins on the road at AFC Wimbledon and Rotherham over the past week.

And it is understood Dale boss John Coleman is to take a softly-softly approach with his skipper for fear of inflaming the injury further.

Elsewhere Dale have no new injury problems, although Luke Watson (knee), Reece Gray (broken leg) and Matt Edwards (wrist) remain on the sidelines.

Back-to-back victories have moved Rochdale level on points with Coleman's former club, Accrington, who occupy the final play-off place on goal difference.

Dagenham & Redbridge travel with an unchanged squad as they aim to get their season on track.

Tuesday's abject 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Northampton left the club winless from their opening seven matches.

Midfielder Matt Saunders came through a practice match earlier this week as he continues his comeback from an ankle injury but is not yet ready to return to first-team action.

Neither is fellow long-term absentee Kevin Maher, who will step up his training next week having suffered no ill effects to the light work he has been doing in his recovery from a foot injury.

Manager John Still has no new problems to contend with but could turn to the likes of Sam Williams, Dominic Green, Danny Green or Billy Bingham to freshen up his XI.
