As the referee moves his whistle to his lips, Mancini will be a relieved man after two weeks of disappointment for his side.

The hosts fire several long balls forward for Rodallega to chase but all he does is give away a foul in the air in the dying embers of this encounter.

Probably too little, too late but the home side press with earnest as City's defence is called into late action.

City calm things down as Mancini's troops seem to play for time with the scoreline in their favour.

The Cottagers press for the equaliser but Hart marshals his defence to withstand the late flurry.

Finally a goal ahead in the match, City push even harder for the killer blow and deliver the ball for their three-pronged attack of Aguero, Balotelli and Dzeko.

Within 60 seconds of coming on, Dzeko smashes the ball into the back of the net after the Cottagers fail to clear the danger of City's free-kick into the box from the left.

After a quiet day on the park, Javi Garcia earns a break with Edin Dzeko taking to the field.

After a lengthy delay, Balotelli finally steps up to take the free-kick for City but he fires it straight into the wall.

Karagounis's first touch since his arrival is to give away a penalty ouside the box.

City inside the Cottagers half and making a concerted effort around the penalty area as they probe for an opening.

It's slowed down a bit as both sides look to catch their breath for the closing encounter of this tight affair in the capital.

Balotelli, again, with a long range shot off target as Baird makes way for veteran Giorgos Karagounis.

City come again as the Cottagers prepare themselves for a gut-busting final ten minutes of regulation time.

The visitors are camped inside the home side's half, with Baird chasing at shadows trying to intercept a loose pass.

City seem to be concentrating most of their effort on getting the ball up to Balotelli, although Toure tries to make rare run down the left but to no avail.

The home side withstand City's latest barrage, but just barely, and looked to launch one of their own down the right wing through Damien Duff.

Samir Nasri comes on for Barry just as City put the foot on the gas with their attacking intent, Schwarzer and his defenders called into action several times at the back in quick succession.

The Citizens consolidate possession and try to re-build their attacking momentum.

The Cottagers now with some time on the ball and look to crack on from the halfway line.

A fizzing right-footed drive from Ruiz from outside the box draws a fine reaction stop from Hart.

Silva tries to create some space for himself inside the box to shoot but the numbers game catches up with him before he can pull the trigger.

City working the ball through the phases with Balotelli the new target-man upfront.

Balotelli receives the ball in space outside the box and turns and shoots, his attempt wide of a diving Schwarzer to his left.

City trying to get Balotelli into the game early with a long ball played forward for the surly striker to chase out to the left.

Cottagers fail to capitalise on the set-piece inside their opponents half and are once again on the back foot.

Rodallega and Kacaniklic try to combine on a quick-break, but Kompany gives away a foul to quash the momentum.

Mario Balotelli replaces Tevez, with Petric coming off for Alex Kacaniklic.

Zabaleta, again, making his presence felt on attack with a long-range attempt on goal from the right.

The hosts try to catch City on the counter, but the move is shut down pretty swiftly.

All the action is taking place inside the Cottagers' box with the home side's defence battling to deal with the power of Tevez and Aguero on the ball.

Zabaleta's attempted cross from the right after a strong run is blocked for a corner, with Tevez making a nuisance of himself in front of goal from the resulting set-piece.

City spread the ball from flank to flank wit Zabaleta and Gael Clichy getting more and more forward on attack.

Nicely weighted cross from the right by Zabaleta sees Aguero head the ball just wide of the far corner of goal.

Aguero drags his shot on goal wide as the status quo for City is resumed.

Corner-kick from the right for the Cottagers sails over a lively Hangeland inside the 18-yard box.

Long ball forward for Ruiz on the right sees Hart come rushing out of goal to clear the danger.

No let up from Mancini's charges who take the ball forward at pace.

Corner-kick for City from the right is way over a packed box and the scoring opportunity goes a-begging.

Silva slips a pass to Tevez on his right but the Argentine's pass into box fails to find Aguero, who looked to have been pushed inside the area.

Relentless pressure from the visitors as Jol's men are hard at work clearing the danger.

The Citizens back on the ball and inside the Cottagers' half of the field baring down on the box.

City sitting back a touch having to deal with the home side's efforts on their goal.

The Cottagers with a bit of attacking momentum at the moment as they take play down the right through Chris Baird.

Ruiz's free-kick form the right is a good one as his delivery into the danger area allows Brede Hangeland to rise up and get a head to the ball, his header just wide of the near post.

Aguero with a weak attempt at goal from the left, although it could be deemed a cross as well.

City with the early possession and if the first 45 minutes is anything to go by, that's a dangerous position for the home side to be in.

Second half underway!

Mancini's men will go into the half-time break buoyed by their late strike, and will be keen to keep up their feverish threat on the Cottagers' goal.

Level on the scoreboard and the Citizens are looking the favourites to pull a win even at this stage of the match.

There's no denying City this time as Aguero gets on the end of Zabaleta's pass and puts the ball past Schwarzer at the far post.

Schwarzer, again, with a good stop to deny City the breakthrough.

The home side on the ropes as the Citizens continue to press.

City's relentless attacking barrage just can't seem to reap the deserved rewards, but they keep on chipping away.

Schwarzer, again, called into action and the Australian makes a great low save to his left from a Silva long-range strike, Zabaleta's cross for Aguero on the rebound desperately cleared by the Cottagers defence.

Schwarzer does well under pressure to hold onto the ball on the goal-line as Aguero chases down Silva's pass from the right with verve.

Risse's free-kick is blocked, but Ruiz tries to score from the rebound, only no dice as his strike careens into the side-netting.

Kompany, again, with a cynical challenge, this time on Petric that earns the City skipper a booking and another free-kick for the hosts, this time close to goal.

It's all hands on deck for the Cottagers as they withstand wave after wave of City attacks.

The Citizens hustling and bustling off the ball in a dogged attempt to regain their ascendency in the possession stakes.

Tevez, again, creates some space for himself on the right of the 18-yard area only for his angled shot to breeze past Mark Schwarzer.

The Cottagers look to hit City on the counter with Ruiz trying his luck from outside the box, but his shot is skied over the bar.

A frustrated Tevez complains to the referee as the official waves play on when the City ace had a legitimate call for a penalty turned down.

No let up for the Cottagers as Zabaleta makes another strong run down the wide channel.

Aguero with a perfect chance to level the score, but his header at the far post from Silva's corner-kick is wide of the mark.

Riise's low shot from the set-piece is on target but Hart smothers the ball comfortably.

Kompany gives away a free-kick for a harsh tackle on Rodallega in a good attacking position.

Toure escapes a caution for a sloppy challenge.

Fantastic football by City as Zabaleta does extremely down the right flank to get on the end of Tevez's cross from the left, but the left-back's pass into the box fails to find a team-mate and is cleared.

The visitors with the lion's share of the ball but unable to break down the opposition ramparts.

Jol's charges are playing a dangerous game allowing the league champions to keep running at them at will.

Toure, again, looking to create some room to shoot from range but the Cottagers defence close the Ivorian down early.

Slow build up from the back by Mancini's men.

All gone a bit quiet with play sandwiched on the halfway line.

City, again, through Silva going forward with the Spaniard trying to jink his way through several defenders but gets tackled and loses possession.

The hosts try to get an attacking movement going, but they're once again dispossessed outside the box.

The Cottagers back-line withstand a foray down the right flanks, with Silva's attempted pass into the box intercepted.

City back on the attack with Silva trying to create something from the middle of the park.

Some good work down the left from Bryan Ruiz and Rodallega sees the latter put in a decent pass for Petric in the area, but the goalscorer's shot is high over the cross.

It's still all City with the Cottagers' defensive lines set pretty tight for this early stage of the match.

Tevez with a shot on target after working himself into a good position just on the dge of the area.

City bogged down on the halfway line on the ball with nowhere to go.

Despite having gone behind, City haven't change their tactics and keep pressuring going forward in possession.

Hart goes the wrong way as Mladin Petric drills the ball into the right corner.

Zabeleta is penalised for a foul on John Arne Riise.

Hugo Rodallega put into space and rounds Joe Hart in the box, but his tap forward is too heavy and he can't catch the CIty shot-stopper out of position.

Aguero with a strong run down the left, but the Argentine's lay off for Barry on his outside his too strong.

The Cottagers seeing some decent ball going forward but are being closed down just outside City's box.

The visitors continue to press and keep the home side hurrying their passing movements.

Yaya Toure with the first shot on goal of the game,. although the midfielder's effort from outside the box is off target.

Aguero, David Silva and Gareth Barry link up as the Citizens come at pace on the attack.

The Cottagers bogged down a little inside their own half with City putting in the early pressure.
