FT: Manchester City 3 Sunderland 0

FULL TIME. Manchester City 3 Sunderland 0.

Aguero finds himself in space from Toure's ball, and he forces Mignolet into a wonderful save with the fourth goal seemed destined right there.

Three minutes of added time to be played.

Late sub now for City as Rodwell comes on in place of Silva.

There we go. It's been coming for a while, but it's with a slice of luck as Milner's free-kick clips the head of Gardner which takes the ball past Mignolet.

Kolarov lures Gardner into making a careless tackle after a mazy run down the left. Yellow card for Gardner and a free-kick to City on the edge of the area.

Kolarov takes two bites at the cherry from a Silva corner, both shots hitting Sunderland bodies to concede another corner. We're surely up to 30 City corners by now.

Tevez is rested for the final few minutes, with Clichy taking the Argentinian's place.

Fletcher tracks back to play in Larsson as Sunderland look for a late lifeline. Gardner has a fierce drive from range but the excellent Lescott sticks his head in the way.

Sessegnon's game comes to an end as Campbell takes to the field.

Zabaleta looks for Tevez after a storming run down the right, but he's followed all the way by Vaughan, who does well to concede a corner.

Yellow card for Colback for a tackle on Silva.

Cuellar cuts out Silva's ball to Aguero as Sunderland look to break with Fletcher. He finds himself a yard to shoot, but fires straight down the throat of Hart, who gathers well.

City are denied a spectacular goal after a lovely move involving Richards, Aguero and Tevez ends with O'Shea questionably clearing as Richards claims a free-kick.

Toure goes for the spectacular with a 25-yard drive. It's not far off, but City are surely heading for a couple more goals here such is their utter dominance.

Crikey. Richards this time goes for the overhead from the corner, seeing as the headers weren't going for him, and while his effort flies over the crossbar, it had Mignolet initially scrambling.

Incredible. Richards again wins the header from the corner but another Sunderland body denies him on the line! The end result, the umpteenth City corner of the game.

Barry is next in line to test Sunderland's weary bodies. He takes a crack from 20 yards and Gardner's head takes it out of play.

Hart is then called into action from the corner as McClean heads the ball towards the far corner and Hart stretches out a hand to keep it out.

Sunderland win a corner as Kolarov nods behind McClean's pacey ball towards the far post.

Two great chances for City! Tevez beats Cuellar for pace and takes the ball round Mignolet. He can't find an angle to shoot in the end though and plays back to Silva, who chips the ball off the crossbar before O'Shea clears. They're getting nearer...

Great chance for City. Aguero plays in Tevez and after sizing up a shot across goal, his effort narrowly skims past the far post and for now, it remains 2-0.

Johnson is taken off to a good ovation from the fans of his former employers, with Saha taking the winger's place.

Lovely passing work from Silva and Aguero lands with Milner on the right, his cross charged down by Vaughan as a corner is conceded.

Toure draws a foul from O'Shea, as City resume possession in their search for a third.

Zabaleta shows good industry down the line and connects with a sly pass to Milner. His first touch lets him down though as he knocks the ball out of play.

Barry sets off as SIlva looks for him with a delicate chip. Cuellar gets in the way though and boots to safety as Sunderland look to be barely holding on here.

City are looking menacing now as Milner looks for Silva on the overlap but Vaughan's first piece of action is marking off the run of the Spaniard.

Rose comes off for Sunderland as Vaughan is brought on in his place.

What an impact! Kolarov's wicked ball finds Aguero at the near post and the striker fires an accurate shot past Mignolet. 2-0 and that might just be enough for City today.

The option of Aguero has really opened up options for City as he plays a one-two with Tevez before Cuellar slides in to make a timely tackle.

Tevez tries a defence-splitting ball to Aguero but O'Shea won't be fooled as he reads the pass all the way.

Zabaleta finds Milner from the throw, the gritty winger making good progressing before earning a corner off O'Shea.

Cuellar concedes a soft corner, but makes amends to an extent to hold off SIlva, with City pushed back to a throw-in just inside Sunderland's half.

Balotelli is off as Aguero takes his place. Balotelli, clearly unhappy, heads straight for the tunnel.

Kolarov drives a delicious ball into the six-yard box and Balotelli, just ahead of O'Shea is dreadfully unlucky not to make contact from close range.

Colback takes a tumble under Balotelli, with City now starting to struggle after an impressive period of ascendancy from Martin O'Neill's side.

Kolarov saves City as he slides in crucially on Johnson, denying the winger what would have been a one-on-one with Hart.

Brilliant work from Sunderland as Sessegnon finds Fletcher with a precise ball over the top of Lescott, the striker firing a bullet header to force a wonderful save from Hart. The offside flag is raised though and the visitors are denied a corner.

The corner falls to Richards, who takes two stabs at the ball, the first blocked by Gardner, the second cleared off the line by Rose!

Silva's pass to Toure is out of this world, and in turn Toure rifles a sensational strike on goal with Mignolet tipping the ball over brilliantly.

A mixed minute for Larsson, who initially plays a beautiful ball to Fletcher, whose volley hits Richards, before Larsson's effort from the rebound is horribly scuffed wide.

Silva turns terrifically away from Colback, but his ball to Toure sees a heavy touch from the midfielder and Sunderland win back possession through Rose.

Johnson makes progress down the right and whips a dangerous ball to the near post which requires an expert clearance from Lescott.

Sunderland get the second half underway.

Gabriel Sutton writes: "Watching this at home, think Mancini will be happy with the early goal but it's important for City that they capitalize on their dominance and kill this game off- Fletcher is in top form and the Citizens are still yet to keep a clean sheet this season, that's with Kompany in their team. I'm sure they'll have the quality to wrap it up in the end though, I'll say 3-1."

Kolarov's free-kick gives City the lead at the break, in a game which has threatened fireworks without providing them so far. Send your second half predictions to jack.woodfield@bskyb.com

HALF TIME. Manchester City 1 Sunderland 0.

Larsson catches everyone unaware as he aims a ball out wide before curling in for Fletcher, who sticks a leg out, but doesn't attach enough power to throw the wary Hart off guard.

Two minutes of injury time to be played.

Sunderland's first real attack results in Larsson crossing in, with Colback's unusual control taking the ball out wide again, where Sessegnon is caught offside in the process.

O'Shea is a highlight reel of clearances at the moment as he is twice forced to head away from Balotelli, with the defender no doubt relieved after Milner's cross from the wing lands behind goal.

Larsson's poor ball finds Lescott, but as the centre-back makes progress up the pitch, his ball over the top catches Balotelli offside.

A well-worked corner ends with Silva finding Barry, who takes aim, but drives wide of Mignolet's near post.

Tevez comes out wide from Balotelli's lay-off, with Rose on hand to prevent another cross into the box. Eventually though, after good persistence, Tevez wins a corner.

Rose recovers to prevent Milner driving a ball to Balotelli across goal. He is then called up though for blocking off Silva and concedes the free-kick.

Balotelli and O'Shea collide, the Man City striker perplexed as to why no free-kick given, as the fans start to vocalise their support much more vehemently for the home team.

It's all City now as Tevez is picked out at the far post and nods the ball back across the six-yard box where O'Shea frantically clears.

The corner falls to the grateful Balotelli, who aims his sights for the top right corner and doesn't come too far away from what would have been a simply sublime goal.

Gardner will be breathing a sigh of relief as he inexplicably plays in Tevez, the striker taking aim and managing to earn a corner after O'Shea's block.

Terrific work from Colback sees him intercept the ball from Silva, earning possession back for Sunderland, who at the moment are just unable to carve any real space for themselves in Man City's half.

Richards is again positioned well to clear away from Fletcher, who hasn't really had a meaningful touch of the ball such is the dominance of the Man City so far.

Kolarov meets Silva's corner but fires quite wildly with his trusty left foot, his strike ending up with the Sunderland fans behind goal.

Silva goes down under Larsson but the referee plays the advantage as Milner looks for Balotelli in the six-yard box, forcing an excellent clearance from Gardner.

Lovely work from Toure to head on Lescott's ball to Balotelli, but the City striker is ruled offside from the linesman, much to his obvious chagrin.

Zabaleta slides through Colback, winning the ball but catching the Sunderland man as well to concede a free-kick after impressive hold-up play from Balotelli.

SIlva finds Toure in space but Cuellar cuts out the midfielder's ball to Kolarov. Sessegnon then tries to find Johnson on the break but gets his pass all wrong.

Some "banter" from Sunderland fans as they hold the ball up before the corner, but when Silva finally does deliver, Sessegnon does well to clear the danger.

Kolarov looks for a second goal of the game but Larsson stands his ground to take the ball behind for a corner.

Gardner catches Balotelli with a high boot, and to make matters worse for Sunderland it occured right on the edge of the penalty area.

Richards positions himself well to cut out McClean's ball to Sessegnon, with City's defence looking extremely strong early on.

Balotelli plays in Kolarov skillfully down the right as City look to work an opening. Tevez is blocked off by Cuellar but eventually finds Zabaleta who is superb denied by Mignolet. Seconds later, Tevez has a stab and drives inches wide of the far post.

O'Shea covers at least 30 yards to deny Toure space to run into, making a superb challenge in the process.

Balotelli takes a clobbering from the lively Gardner, an act which keeps the striker down and earns City a free-kick.

Barry holds off three to play in Silva excellently. As Balotelli then cuts in from the right he earns a free-kick after a tug from Gardner.

Hart's clearance is straight to Gardner, but Kolarov does well to deny the makeshift right-back a run down the line.

Toure sticks a boot out to control Tevez's cross but O'Shea marshalls him well as the hosts enjoy a spell of possession in Sunderland's half.

Larsson's corner falls to McClean, but his touch gets away from him and Larsson can't prevent the ball from rolling out of play.

Kolarov is too casual defending against Johnson, with the winger managing to whip a cross in which forces Zabaleta to head behind and concede a corner.

Milner is down holding his ankle after going in for a tackle with Sessegnon. He returns to his feet though as he looks to shake it off.

Johnson's quick free-kick eventually falls to Sessegnon after some volleyballl, but despite his effort packing a punch, it fails to trouble Hart.

A solid tackle from Richards on Sessegnon wins back the ball for the hosts after a good period from Sunderland comes to a halt.

Milner enthusastically charges through Sessegnon to concede a free-kick, but Johnson is marked well by Kolarov from Colback's pass as the defender plays back to Hart.

Sunderland look to respond through Sessegnon but Lescott stands his ground well to deny the playmaker the space for a pass.

It's a terrific free-kick but Mignolet has a horror show. He lets the ball past him far too easily and now Sunderland have their work cut out with just five minutes gone.

Tevez hobbles to the touchline after the challenge as he awaits permission to come back. In the meantime, there's a queue to take this free-kick for City.

Cuellar makes an extremely risky tackle on the edge of the area on Tevez and picks up an very early yellow card, which on another day, could have been a different colour.

Johnson's early enthusiasm nearly sees him pick off Lescott early on but the defender recovers in the end to play out wide to Kolarov.
