Edwards: Set for Cod Army bow

Rob Edwards is set to make his debut at the heart of the Fleetwood defence.

Edwards joined the Cod Army earlier this week on loan from Barnsley and is poised to fill the void left by skipper Steve McNulty, who will miss out due to a calf injury sustained during the opening stages of last weekend's 2-2 draw at Cheltenham.

Fellow defender Dean Howell remains on the sidelines with the ankle injury he suffered against York, with Alan Goodall favourite to continue in his place.

Andy Mangan is a major doubt with a knee problem, meaning David Ball should have the chance to build on two goals in his last three games up front.

"I've played them (Wycombe) a couple of times and I'd expect them to try and play at times," Ball said.

"They'll be hard to beat like any team in this league, so we'll just have to look to play the game we've kept playing throughout the season and hopefully we'll get some chances."

Wycombe caretaker-boss Gareth Ainsworth could be boosted by the return of Stuart Lewis.

The midfielder suffered a rib injury in last weekend's win over Torquay and was forced to miss Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint tie.

But Lewis returned to training on Wednesday and is expected to return to the starting line-up at Highbury.

Sam Wood is closing in on a return from a knee injury but won't resume full training until next week.

Fellow midfielder Matt Bloomfield (groin) and Matt McClure (hamstring) should also return early next week.

But striker Dennis Oli (ankle) and Marvin McCoy (ankle and fractured fibia) remain a couple of weeks away.

Meanwhile, Grant Basey's recent operation on a ruptured cruciate ligament was a success and he will now work closely with club physio Theo Farley.
