FT: Norwich 1 Stoke 0

Seven points from their last nine for Norwich, and on the back of their midweek cup win, things look a great deal brighter for the Canaries.

Full time at Carrow Road. They have back-to-back home wins in the Premier League, whilst Stoke are now 15 away games without a win in the league. It wasn't a great game, but Norwich did enough to beat a Stoke side that just lacked a spark of creativity.

90+3
Matthew Etherington booked for some afters which caused a small ruckus on the pitch

90+2
John Ruddy claims the ball and we have a skirmish on the pitch

90+1
Ryan Shawcross has been put up front by Tony Pulis, but he is caught offside chasing the ball

90
Into four minutes of injury time

89
N'Zonzi fouls Bradley Johnson in his attempt to make anuisance of himself in the Norwich box

88
Pilkington's free kick claimed by Begovic

86
Final Norwich change, Wes Hoolahan off for Steve Morison. Man of the Match for me Hoolahan.

85
Ryan Shawcross booked for hauling back Grant Holt

84
Final substitution for Stoke. Glenn Whelan on for Andy Wilkinson

83
Norwich still seem comfortable defending out this game. There is no concerted pressure from toke as yet

81
Charlie Adam fouls Wes Hoolahan, and that's a last warning for the Stoke midfielder, on a booking

80
Anthony Pilkington is tackled by referee Andre Marriner, and voices his frustration very vocally

78
As we move towards the last ten minutes, you can hear the nerves from the Norwich fans. This win would mean so much to the club in terms of their league position

77
kenwyne Jones should score after taking the ball down in the box, but somehow drags wide from nine yards. Should at least of hit the target

76
Norwich now look happy to hold onto what they have got, and you cannot blame Chris Hughton for that mindset. What have Stoke got to break that hold?

74
Acrobatic attempt from Peter Crouch, but he can only hit the ball over the bar. Decent effort though

73
Header from Kenwyne Jones, and it is a smart save from Ruddy. Good to see Jones straight into the action, however

71
Can only assume that Garrido had a knock, because he had played well until that point

71
Leaon Barnett has come on for Norwich for Javier Garrido

70
Shot from 25 yards from Tettey for Norwich, but he drags it wide

69
Kenwyne Jones coming on for Stoke, who scored the equaliser here last season. He replaces Jon Walters. Jones' last goal was 15 months ago, here.

68
From the corner, Snodgrass' delivery almost curls into the goal

68
Norwich win a corner after strong running from Wes Hoolahan. He has showed some invention this afternoon

66
Although Stoke have been better since the break, they are still lacking that spark of creativity.

64
Flowing counter attack from Norwich, and it ends with Grant Holt crossing for Pilkington, who volleys over. This second half has been much improved

62
Grant Holt beginning to look a touch isolated as Stoke dominate possession. They will need to score whilst they are on top

60
Michael Kightly to be replaced by Matthew Etherington in a straight swap

60
Jon Walters fires high and wide for Stoke after a fantastic pass from Charlie Adam. The ex-Ipswich man gets some stick from the Norwich fans

59
Alexander Tettey booked for a shove on Charlie Adam

58
Peter Crouch penalised for a foul in the area, and he is not happy with Andre Marriner's decision

56
Stoke are on top at the moment, a Michael Kightly cross-shot saved by John Ruddy

55
Turner is forced off for Norwich, replaced by Elliott Bennett

54
Michael Turner is off getting treatment at the moment for Norwich City

52
Chance for Stoke. After indecision from the Norwich defence, John Ruddy is forced to make a smart save from Jon Walters

50
Wonderful hold up play by Pilkington for Norwich, and the home side win a corner

49
In fairness to Stoke, they are mixing things up a lot better so far in this second half, playing the ball to Michael Kightly down the left wing

48
The corner is well held by Asmir Begovic

47
Wes Hoolahan shoots from fully 50 yards out, and Begovic knocks the ball behind for a corner

46
Javier Garrido looks very assured on the ball for Norwich, and he controls the ball beautifully at the start of the second half

@tomscott 123 says: Stoke need etherington on for abit of pace backing crouch up also who will take on his man and get the crosses in!

The teams are back out at Carrow Road, where the home side lead by one goal to nil.

Remember to get in touch with your thoughts ahead of the second half with @danielstorey85. Norwich fans, you must be happy with that delivery and finish?

Whilst I'm not convinced by Pulis' complaints for the goal, I do feel that he can be aggrieved by the fact that his side have received three bookings so far, because there hasn't been a particularly poor challenge in the match

Stoke, however, are a conundrum. They have looked impressive at home when I have seen them, but Charlie Adam needs to try and get onto the ball more and control the midfield.

Worth pointing out that Bradley Johnson's header was actually a brilliant finish. The ball was a touch behind him but he connected like a true finisher

Norwich will be happy with their lead, whilst Stoke will want to improve. One can presume that Tony Pulis will give his side some stern words.

Tony Pulis is unhappy about the goal, but his side deserve nothing else. They simply haven't turned up, as yet.

That's half time. The Norwich fans sing "1-0 to the football team", and in truth they are the only side that has tried to pass the ball around with any creation. Too often the Stoke passing has simply been launching the ball to Peter Crouch

45+1
Into stoppage time in the first half.

45
Tony Pulis unhappy about a foul in the build up to the move that created the goal, but replays show his complaint was fairly petty

44
GOAL!!! My goodness we needed that. Robert Snodgrass crosses in from the free kick and Bradley Johnson heads home

42
Best move of the match ends with Norwich winnign a free kick on the edge of the box, and Andy Wilkinson will be booked for hauling back Snodgrass

41
Another dreadful final ball, this time for Anthony Pilkington. Dean Whitehead is booked for a challenge earlier in the move.

39
Norwich attempt to work an opportunity for a cross, but eventually Grant Holt is caught offside

37
Peter Crouch tackles like a baby giraffe. Discuss... The striker is penalised for a long-legged foul

36
Charlie Adam starting to drop deeper to try and pull the strings. By goodness Stoke need him to do so.

34
Charlie Adam strikes the ball well. It's straight at John Ruddy, but it is the first shot on target Stoke have had

32
Now it's Norwich's turn to get a free kcik forty yards out, Huth fouling Holt

31
Charlie Adam gets a free kick forty yards out. Exactly the same foul as the one that he got booked for for diving. Consistency please.

29
Peter Crouch has a shot on goal after taking the ball down, but he shanks it well wide

28
Bassong gets a deflected shot in on goal, but it is easy for Begovic. Norwich will feel they have to score whilst they are on top here

27
Norwich win a corner, from which Snodgrass hits the first man. Story of the first half right there

26
Adam did go down easily, but it was a foul

25
Charlie Adam gets a yellow card for diving. He got a shove in fairness

24
Huge chance for Norwich as Pilkington gets free in the penalty area. He really should have scored but hits it straight at Begovic

20
The passing has really fallen away here, and the first signs of grumbling from both sets of fans as the quality continues to be lacking

19
Both sides opting for the long ball, but there is no great deal of quality. We need to see more invention if this is to improve soon

17
A quiet spell in the game as both sides struggle with their final ball. Actually, if I'm honest, the ball before that

16
This week marks ten years since Tony Pulis took charge at Stoke for the first time. Just so you know

15
Corner for Stoke as Grant Holt's cross is blocked.

14
I've got a lot of time for Wes Hoolahan, a really hardworking footballer. He snaps into the tackle and wins the ball back for Norwich

13
Stoke passing the ball around with ease, but neither goalkeeper has been tested as yet

12
Norwich looking to cross the ball into the box, but with just Holt against Huth and Shawcross, he will struggle for spare change

10
Stoke now enjoying the majority of the ball as they look to imprint themselves on the home team

9
Chance for Stoke as Charlie Adam fires wide from 20 yards after Norwich fail to clsoe him down

8
Most of Norwich's early play is focussing down the right hand side with Snodgrass heavily involved

7
Bassong gives the ball away in defence, but Crouch is unable to capitalise. Reasonably frantic stuff.

5
Bright start from the home side, but Stoke relieve the danger with a free kick on halfway

4
Lovely ball into the box from Snodgrass, and Norwich have the first corner

3
You do get the impression that this game might involve some 'direct football' with Holt and Crouch up top

2
Neither sides particularly comfortable in possession here, the ball moving from back to front quite quickly

1
An early ball into the Stoke box from Robert Snodgrass, but it is easily cleared

1
We are underway here at Carrow Road...

Stoke have not won away from home since January. So my prediction instantly looks shaky. Standard stuff.

Adele is now belting out her stuff (not live, you understand) as we have ten minuted before kick off. It's a grey day in East Anglia, and I can report we have not had any pictures of a smiling Delia as yet.

I want to know your predictions too, to @danielstorey85. A big shiny penny for the closest.

What's that, you want my score prediction? Ok, ok, 1-0 Stoke, since you ask. Think Shawcross and Huth will have enough to deal with the threat of Holt, and Crouch will score a second half winner

First pictures from Carrow Road, and it would be fair to say that the ground could do with some filling up as some indie dum n bass dance mix fills the East Anglian air

Jon Walters has started the last 60 Premier League games

Peter Crouch has scored four goals in nine league games so far this season, but only one of his last eight Premier League goals has come away from home

Norwich have kept three clean sheets in their last five Premier League matches at Carrow Road

Six of Norwich's nine games this season have gone under 2.5 goals

Stoke City have won none of their last 14 Premier League away matches (W0 D6 L8) and they have scored just eight goals in that run

Stoke are unbeaten in four games against Norwich

Time now for a stat attack...

Keep getting in touch you beautiful things @danielstorey85

Norwich are 6/4 favourites for victory following recent home wins against Arsenal and Tottenham, while Stoke 9/5 for a win at Carrow Road with the draw 9/4. The Canaries have kept three clean sheets in their last five home league games and are 3/1 to win to nil, while Grant Holt and Peter Crouch are the joint 11/2 favourites to score first.

I covered Reading v Fulham last week, and many people thought that that was a short straw. Well I got six goals in that one, so let's be really positive, okay?

Having said that, there were just three goals in two games between the two last season, and in the corresponding fixture Kenwyne Jones got an injury time equaliser for Stoke after Leon Barnett had been sent off after an hour with Norwich leading.

Norwich have won their last two home games against North London rivals Spurs and Arsenal to give Stephen Fry et al hope of hauling themselves out of a supposed relegation battle.

Stoke - Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Huth, Wilkinson; Walters, Whitehead, Nzonzi, Adam, Kightly; Crouch. Subs - Sorensen, Whelan, Palacios, Jones, Upson, Etherington, Jerome

Norwich - Ruddy; Whittaker, Turner, Bassong, Garrido; Snodgrass, Tettey, Johnson, Pilkington, Hoolahan; Holt Subs - Bunn, Howson, Jackson, Morison, E. Bennett, Barnett. R. Bennett

The teams are in:

Without further ado, let me insist that you follow, get in touch and generally badger me on Twitter by contacting @danielstorey85. We will publish the best of what we get.

Although Stoke sit just one place behind Liverpool in the table, this is a battle between two strugglers in truth. Both sides have just one league win this season, and an addition to that would mightily please both managers.

Good afternoon, and welcome to commentary from Carrow Road for Norwich City against Stoke City.
