City bounce back from their derby defeat with victory over Newcastle - how will their Manchester rivals respond as they face Sunderland in a match kicking off in just over 20 minutes?
Corner taken short and that's the last act of the match.
City break forward three-on-one but Perch does well to block Dzeko's attempted cross to Aguero behind for a corner.
Corner comes to nothing but Clichy then plays a dangerous back pass which Hart has to race out to hack clear.
Marveaux jinks this way and that and fires in a shot which deflects behind for a late Newcastle corner.
The corner comes to nothing and Newcastle launch an attack, forcing a throw deep in City territory. Just as we did in the first half, we'll have three minutes of added time.
Silva whips the free-kick in and Dzeko's header bounces off Williamson and goes behind for a corner.
Santon - now at right-back - cuts inside but his slid ball towards Anita goes awry and City break quickly. Yaya Toure is held up, though, but Zabaleta draws a cheap free-kick from Gutierrez as the clock ticks down.
Ba swings and misses as the ball drops to him from the corner. When it's worked back in Williamson's cute header is cleared and City spring on the counter. Aguero powers into the Newcastle box but Krul narrows the angle and does the job.
Corner to Newcastle as Gutierrez's cross is turned behind by Javi Garcia.
Aguero cuts inside onto his right foot but his shot is always drifting just beyond the back post. Think Krul had it covered too.
Gutierrez clips a cross into the City box but Ameobi can only find Hart with his downward header.
City look to spring on the counter-attack after a bit of Newcastle pressure but Coloccini defends well to head an Aguero ball clear of danger.
Zabaleta tries to gallop onto a dinked ball forward into the Newcastle box but Krul is out quickly to gather.
Shane Ferguson replaces Simpson.
Ba cuts inside down the inside-right channel and hammers in a shot but it's never troubling Hart as it sails over.
It's whipped into the box but Kolo Toure and Lescott combine to head clear.
Ball breaks out to Simpson on the right and he forces a corner off Lescott.
Corner to Newcastle whipped in by Anita but Javi Garcia heads away from danger.
Newcastle bring Shola Ameobi on for Cisse.
City bring Joleon Lescott on for Tevez.
GOAL - YAYA TOURE. Patient from City as they press around the box and it eventually bears fruit. Silva has a couple of crosses half-cleared but eventually the ball breaks to Zabaleta and he slides it back for Yaya Toure, who prods home.
Anita brings Silva down centrally and there's no complaints as the free-kick is given.
Gutierrez drills a cross across after good work from Anita once again but Hart palms it away from danger.
Newcastle make a change of their own with Sylvain Marveaux replacing Tiote. The Ivorian shakes his head as he trots off - and Pardew has a quick chat to him, presumably explaining his decision.
'Dr Shreeves' down on the touchline tells us Kolarov has an ice pack on his thigh so that explains that one.
Edin Dzeko replaces Kolarov as the sub is subbed. Has to be injured.
Lofted towards Coloccini but Zabaleta stands firm to head clear. City break down the left but the cross in is just too high for Tevez, who attempts an audacious overhead kick but misses.
Free-kick to Newcastle as Zabaleta fouls Gutierrez. They'll clip this forward for one of the big lads no doubt.
Ambitious effort from Ba easily gathered by Hart. Good break from Newcastle that, though, they sprang forward quickly once Tiote had nicked the ball off Kolarov out wide.
Demba Ba now has six goals in seven games at St James' Park - he's 8/1 with Sky Bet to make it seven in seven by netting next.
Javi Garcia again outjumps Perch from the corner but this time his header squirms away from danger beyond the far post.
Great defending from Coloccini at the other end now as he turns Kolarov's dangerous cross behind for a corner. That could easily have gone wrong and made him look silly.
Cross whipped in by Gutierrez on the left but Clichy deals with it superbly, chesting the ball coolly back for Hart to take.
City force a couple of throws in quick succession in the attacking third but they're not the attacking force they were thus far in this half.
Corner is hoisted in to the back post. Ba climbs to meet it with his head but eventually gets a shot away as it squirms off a body or two. Fans on the near side are up but it's in the side netting.
City struggling to get it clear. Corner is half-cleared as are two subsequent balls back into the box. Newcastle then force another corner as Anita's shot is deflected behind.
End-to-end stuff this. Another corner to Newcastle now...
Great defending from Williamson as he gets his body between Aguero and the ball on the edge of the Newcastle box. Offside flag was up but neither man was to know that at the time.
Zabaleta manages to fashion a cross from the right but the ball flies across the goalmouth untouched and Simpson clears from the right-back area.
Geoff Shreeves informs us Nasri went off with a muscle strain in the thigh area. The Frenchman is back on the bench with ice on the injury.
Anita really catching the eye for Newcastle here in the second half. Was restricted largely to free-kick taking duties in the first half but he's really getting himself involved in open play now.
Javi Garcia heads the corner clear, but only as far as Tiote. He shoots as the ball drops but it's always drifting off target.
Great flow to this game - Newcastle have a corner now.
City spring on the counter down the right and Tevez tries to lift the ball over the onrushing Krul but the goalkeeper does well to spread himself and thwart the Argentine.
Simpson clips a good ball in from the right which screws up off a head on the edge of the box. Coloccini momentarily senses he's in but Hart is out quickly to gather.
Kolo Toure and Perch booked within seconds of each other. Toure under the totting-up procedure for another foul and Perch for a foul in the build-up to that Aguero jinking in the Newcastle area.
Aguero tries to jink his way clear in the Newcastle box but Coloccini holds firm and clears.
Just seen a replay of the goal and Aguero played Ba onside. Have to admit I was fully expecting the flag to go up - thus explaining why Ba had so much space - but another gold star for the assistant referee there.
Good stuff from Newcastle this. The ball is worked into Cisse just inside the City box. He fashions himself a shooting chance with a brilliant first touch but then powers his shot over the bar.
City straining for an immediate response but the Magpies backline holds firm this time and the ball is carried away.
GOAL - BA. Strange ball in from the corner which Silva heads clear. Coloccini facing his own goal loops a hopeful cross back into the City area and an unmarked Ba is able to head past Hart. This time they've got the reward for their early dominance.
Yes! A winning bet. Kolo Toure beats Williamson to the ball this time, though. Ball worked back to Tiote just outside the City box and he forces a corner off Kolo Toure.
Ba tripped by Nastasic five yards inside the Newcastle area. Bet this one is lofted forward for Williamson...
Great run forward from Santon. He cuts inside Zabaleta all too easily but rather snatches at his shot, pulling it wide of goal.
Tiote floats a great cross over from the right and Ba is all over the back of Zabaleta to get his head to it but it sails off target. Promising start for Newcastle (again) though.
Great punch from Hart off the top of Perch's head as the free-kick is lofted into the box. The ball is worked back into the area and Ba attempts to volley goalwards but fails to get a significant touch on it. Flag was up anyway, though not sure Ba was offside.
Early free-kick for Newcastle as Santon cuts inside Silva and the Spaniard trips him with a lazy leg left out.
Newcastle get us back under way.
Michael Jenkins is keeping the faith admirably. He writes: "2-2 Toon comeback. Sammy Ameobi last goal...fingers crossed for that!" Wouldn't be surprised to see Newcastle score but can't see them keeping City out for the entire second half.
Fancy a Newcastle comeback in the second half? The Magpies are 50/1 to win with Sky Bet now with the draw 16/1 and City 1/33. Demba Ba and David Silva have been price boosted for the next goal - Ba is 15/2 to score next, Silva is 9/1.
Don't think anyone could argue City don't deserve their lead - they've been so slick in the attacking third thus far. Newcastle have forced a couple of decent saves from Joe Hart in the half but are some way short of City in the final third.
City see off the danger and that's half-time.
Bit early saying 'end the half' there actually - free-kick to Newcastle as the clock ticks down.
City end the half on the attack but Kolarov is offside once again.
Another cross from Simpson but Ba and Cisse are caught on their heels somewhat, making what was actually a cross into a good area look pretty awful.
As we enter three minutes of added time, the corner drifts just over Williamson's head at the back post.
Simpson does well to fashion a crossing opportunity from the right and picks out Cisse beyond the back post. He chests it down but Zabaleta prevents him from shooting at the expense of a corner.
Cisse takes a sore one now but he's back to his feet after a short break and doesn't need the physio on.
Poor corner this one - all too easy for Krul to gather centrally.
Silva and Tevez look to link up down the right once again and Perch has to concede a corner tracking back.
Corner comes to nothing and City spring on the counter-attack but Kolarov has strayed beyond the last defender and the flag is up.
Newcastle push forward looking for an immediate response and Hart claws a cross behind for a corner.
GOAL - JAVI GARCIA. Corner is whipped in for Javi Garcia, who climbs highest and heads powerfully goalwards. Should be meat and drink for Santon to merely pump clear on the back post but he somehow manages to miss his kick and the ball nestles in the net. Not sure if Aguero in front of him put Santon off there but he really should have cleared that easily.
More rapier-like attacking play from City down the inside-right. Silva slides it to Tevez but he has to be content with a corner as Krul blocks his side-footed shot with the toes on his right foot.
Anita whips the ball into the City area but Hart gathers. Any touch there was a problem for him but he held his nerve and it was comfortable for him ultimately.
Aleksander Kolorov is the man to replace Nasri.
Newcastle fans delighted as Aguero goes into the book.
Think Gutierrez caught Nasri with his knee in a rather painful area when he challenged him perfectly legitimately. That said, Nasri is hobbling down the tunnel so must be more serious than that. Thigh injury maybe. We'll hear more later no doubt.
Nasri takes another sore one - and once again he'll need treatment from the physio. Didn't see what happened there but from where he's holding, it's one that's made him wince...
Krul's long kick forward is headed by Cisse in the direction of Ba. He manages to get a snapshot away on the turn but it's never troubling Hart as it drifts behind for a goal-kick.
Tevez backs into Coloccini, who catches the Argentine around the ear with his arm. Tevez hits the deck holding his head but the free-kick goes the way of Newcastle for Tevez's backing in.
Cisse dives in on Clichy but nicking the ball away saves him what would surely have been a booking otherwise. Newcastle spring on the counter and that man Cisse smashes in a shot from distance but it's always sailing over the crossbar.
Kolo Toure heads the free-kick away from danger and Clichy completes the clearance - albeit at the second attempt.
Aguero, tracking back, trips Santon around five yards outside the City box over on the left as Newcastle attack. No yellow card despite the crowd's appeals but this is a really good chance for Newcastle to get a quality ball intot he box.
Tevez slides Nasri in down the right and his cut-back is perfect for Aguero, but his shot is off target. City playing some lovely stuff going forward.
Simpson the second name in the referee's notebook after tripping Silva as the Spaniard tries to turn him. Newcastle players don't seem too happy with that one - presume they're still querying why Kolo Toure hasn't been booked.
Really entertaining game this one. Newcastle on top early then City had a period of dominance but both goalkeepers have had saves to make.
Another decent save from Hart to keep City in front. Free-kick is hoisted to Williamson again, who heads down. Perch manages to get a touch and Hart is out bravely to parry but the ball is then worked back to Williamson and his left-footed shoft draws a decent save from Hart diving away to his left.
Great stuff from Tiote to carry it forward but Cisse miskicks and the momentum of the attack slows. Newcastle do get a free-kick, though, and chance to presumably knock it forward to the edge of the City box.
Free-kick to Newcastle 10 yards inside their own half. Looked a soft one that, but the Magpies won't mind one bit.
Ba attempts to find Cisse with an angled ball towards the left but it's overhit and drifts out for a goal-kick. Newcastle just not clicking in the final third at the moment.
Nasri needs treatment as he was hurt in the build-up to that - he's up quickly, though, and seems able to continue.
Subsequent corner comes to nothing and Newcastle look to break forward rapidly but Perch's ball forward is marginally too heavy and Hart is able to gather.
More lovely link-up play from City down the inside-right channel with Zabaleta, Silva and Nasri involved. The Frenchman tucks his shot under Krul but it bounces back off the post. Aguero slides it goalwards but Williamson does superbly to block it clear.
Toon Army have fallen flat - that's for sure.
Unsurprisingly City happy just to knock the ball around and draw Newcastle onto them. They've been brilliant in the final third in the last seven or eight minutes.
Krul comes out of his area to mop up and boot out of play for a throw-in to City down their left.
Lovely one-two between Yaya Toure and Nasri but the Frenchman's cut-back is just too far ahead of Tevez and drifts out beyond the far post for a goal-kick. All City now.
Cynical trip on the advancing Tevez means Williamson is the first name into the referee's notebook. Only complaint he can have is that Kolo Toure didn't beat him into it - was a clear booking that.
Gutierrez getting no change out of Zabaleta in the early stages.
Patient build-up from City with Silva heavily involved leads to a shooting opportunity for Tevez, which Krul pushes away well. Silva offside as the ball bounces back to him.
Hammer blow for Newcastle that after a really bright start. Looked at first glance as though Nasri had to be offside but the assistant referee called it absolutely spot on - Coloccini playing him on centrally.
GOAL - AGUERO. First time City string any sort of possession together - and it ends with a goal. Yaya Toure slides a superb ball through for Nasri down the inside right, who springs the offside trap with a perfectly-timed run before unselfishly sliding the ball across for Aguero to slide into the empty net. Lovely goal.
Aguero dropping deeper to get involved here.
Clichy manages to head this free-kick clear under pressure from team-mate Javi Garcia. Tiote is caught in possession by Aguero just inside his own half and the Argentine advances before sliding it through to Tevez. He's through on Krul but the offside flag is up. Krul saves in any case. Quick glance at the replay suggests that was a marginal call - think he may have been just onside.
Another free-kick to Newcastle around halfway, this time five or so yards inside their own half.
Free-kick lofted into Williamson on the edge of the box and he wins the header. Hart out quickly though and snatches the ball away from the advancing Ba. All Newcastle at the moment.
Another free-kick to Newcastle around halfway as Ba is fouled by Kolo Toure. Think that's the last chance for the former Arsenal defender before he enters the book. That seemed to be what Marriner was telling him anyway.
Corner is whipped in towards the front post and Hart - under severe pressure - has to push clear of danger. Looked to be fouled there but the referee wasn't impressed by his appeal.
Anita hoists a free-kick forward to the edge of the City box but it's half-cleared. Newcastle to force a corner down the left, though as their good start continues.
Scrappy start from City here. Cheick Tiote had so much time to cross for Cisse there - no-one closing him down at all.
Good start by Newcastle and Joe Hart is fully extended to his right to push away a snapshot from Cisse. Cracking save that - ball was sneaking in the corner.
Papiss Cisse tracking back well early in the game nicks the ball off the toes of David Silva.
City get us under way
Teams are out on the pitch now.
Roberto Mancini very short when asked about Balotelli's absence - says he is "at home to train". Expects Kompany to be back for the next game and after criticising Nasri last week, says the Frenchman is a "top player". Alan Pardew, meanwhile, takes it as a positive that what he sees as City's two best central defenders aren't playing.
It's only the middle of December but Ray Wilkins in the Sky Sports 2 studio reckons this is "must win" for City as he expects Manchester United to beat Sunderland later. Injured Newcastle defender Steven Taylor, meanwhile, admits Vincent Kompany being out is a "positive" for the Magpies.
Time for a pre-match betting update. If you're betting in the outright markets, the champions are 8/13 favourites with Sky Bet with Newcastle available at 9/2 and the draw 29/10. If you like your prices boosted, you can get 33/1 on Demba Ba to score first and Newcastle to win 1-0 OR 2-1 while Sergio Aguero to score first and City to win either 2-1 OR 3-0 is 16s.
Joe writes: "I fancy a smash-and-grab 1-0 win for the Toon Army today. We always look like scoring and we have put out a very defensive line-up today."
Jake Frater writes: "As a City fan I'm going to say a City win. But it won't be easy. Newcastle away when they have pretty much a full squad is never easy. Tevez and Aguero should link up well today. Because of that 3-1 City and Tevez 1st goal."
We have a red infiltrator on the emails! Vikki writes: "A massive game for both clubs considering Newcastle's poor form recently and City losing last week. I think it will be close, but as a United fan, I'm hoping for a newcastle win! 1-0."
Magpie James not feeling too confident. He writes: "Don't think there is much chance of a win today for Newcastle. They don't look to have the spark needed going forward to create decent chances or goals. The defence just isn't the same when Collocini is missing and when he is it's 11 attackers against him and Santon. Santon has been the best player for us this year. I would push him further forward today and swap with Jonas. There is definitely something missing in the team. Let's hope we find some bargains in the January sales!"
Joshua writes: "As Newcastle are not in good form, hoping for them to get a point as Man City also not doing as well. Predicting 2-2 Ba (2) Y Toure (1) Zabeleta (1)."
2-1 City the popular early prediction. Patrick writes: "Can see this being a cagey affair, neither side will want to give much away, but the fact that both Aguero and Tevez are starting makes me think City may just edge this one. Tevez with two for City and Cisse for Newcastle."
No surprise after his derby display last weekend that Mario Balotelli is conspicuous by his absence from the City line-up. He makes way along with the suspended Gareth Barry and the injured Vincent Kompany as Carlos Tevez, Javi Garcia and Kolo Toure are recalled. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has to do without Hatem Ben Arfa, who returned from a hamstring injury in Monday night's 2-1 defeat at Fulham, after he suffered a recurrence. James Perch takes his place.
Our referee is Andre Marriner.
Man City: Hart, Zabaleta, Nastasic, Toure, Clichy, Silva, Javi Garcia, Toure, Nasri, Aguero, Tevez. Subs: Pantilimon, Lescott, Dzeko, Sinclair, Kolarov, Rekik, Razak.

Olivia is first to get in touch via email. She writes: "I'm really hoping for a Newcastle win, but I highly doubt that given their current form. Something isn't working in the squad, and we're really struggling this season. I'd say 2-1 Man City."
Afternoon all and welcome to our coverage of Newcastle v Manchester City at St James' Park.
