Charles: Back from suspension

Charles: Back from suspension

Darius Charles returns to the Boro squad for the visit of the Reds.

The defender missed out at Hartlepool last weekend through suspension after collecting a fifth yellow card of the season.

He could replace David Gray in the starting line-up after the right-back was injured towards the end of the 2-0 win at Victoria Park.

Portuguese midfielder Filipe Morais missed out on Saturday with an ankle knock he suffered against Tranmere the previous week, and he will be checked over.

Defender Jon Ashton is still missing with an Achilles injury and is not expected back until the new year.

Midfielder Robin Shroot scored in a practice match against Watford in midweek to push his claims for a return to the starting line-up.

The visitors will check on Kyle McFadzean and Billy Clarke ahead of the trip to Hertfordshire.

Defender McFadzean has missed Town's last two matches through illness and top scorer Clarke sat out the 2-2 draw with Shrewsbury on Saturday with a hamstring problem.

Full-back Shaun Cooper is still struggling with the groin injury he picked up at Colchester back in September and is expected to miss out again.

Midfielder Dannie Bulman and striker John Akinde climbed off the bench to help Crawley battle back to secure a point against the Shrews, so they will come into the reckoning for places in the starting line-up.

Richie Barker's side have slipped to 10th in the league standings after a run of seven games without a win.
