FT: Manchester City 2 Fulham 0

Man City 2 Fulham 0. Not the best display City will put in this season, but a brace from Silva has seen them to another win and they remain very much in the title race.

Clicjy moving forward again, but no so fast this time. Just about running down the clock now. Referee looking at his watch. City about to close the game at the top of the Premier League table.

Dzeko not happy as he is pulled up for backing into Hangeland. It doesn't take long, though, for City to pile forward again. Clichy rolls the ball across for Dzeko in front of goal. Somehow he lifts high over the top from 10 yards out.

Petric still looking to get involved for Fulham. He is too eager on this occasion and has drifted offside. Hart in no rush to take the free-kick.

Going through the motions now, with both sides looking forward to the final whistle. Can City put the icing on the cake by grabbing a late third?

Four minutes of stoppage-time to be played.

Final stages at the Etihad and City are now easing their way to another welcome three-point haul.

Clichy happy to pump the ball forward. Fulham not offering a lot know as they give the ball straight back to City. The Blues pile forward. Aguero shows great pace to skip past Brigges, before drilling across the face of goal and wide of the post.

Final change by City gives Lescott a late run-out. He is brought on in place of Silva. Nicely done by Mancini as Silva receives a standing ovation on his way from the field.

Nasri moves the ball wide to Milner. He gives it back to the Frenchman. He is allowed to drift in field, before slipping the ball back to Milner. His well-struck drive from 20 yards is always rising and sails over.

Good hold up play from Dzeko. He will be happy to have completed 90 minutes this afternoon. Balotelli probably less so at having spent the entire game on the bench.

Aguero around Schwarzer, but can't turn the ball into the net. He beat the Fulham keeper to a threaded pass from Dzeko. He was, however, faced with a tight angle and was falling as he tried to turn the ball goalwards.

Nice pass from Ruiz towards Petric. Kompany does really well to read the danger and stick out a leg. The City skipper hasn't had much to do today, but what he has done he has done well. Reliable as ever.

Lovely build-up from City, involving Aguero. He sends the ball across the box for Silva, who drops it off first time into the path of Dzeko. He is leaning back as he shoots and fires high into the crowd.

Aguero commits his second foul, as he shoves Sidwell to the deck. Fulham then give the ball away again. They have been their own worst enemy at times.

Aguero involved straight away, as he concedes a foul. He dragged Riether to the deck. Fulham move through midfield, with Sidwell running away from two blue shirts.

Second change by City sees Aguero make his return to Premier League action. He replaces his fellow countryman Tevez. Boost for City to see Aguero back.

Berbatov looking to combine with Petric. Fulham's front two aren't quite on the same wavelength. Berbatov trudges away shaking his head. Not a good day to be a mercurial frontman.

Mancini is still up poitning his finger at someone. Never happy that man. City have been in control of this from the off and he should be happy with how things stands. He doesn't look like he is.

Karagounis moves the ball wide to Riether, before getting it back. He swings over a left-footed cross, which is dealt with by Kompany. Dzeko tries to go on his own for City, but fires into the side-netting when he had Tevez square in space.

Keep-ball at the moment from City. They aren't that bothered about going forward. Tevez drop deep to get involved. The ball is eventually moved right to Milner. His low cross to the front post is dived upon by Schwarzer.

Tevez urged to try his luck from 25 yards out. He slips as he shoots and sees his mis-hit effort flick off the legs of Nasri on its way through to Schwarzer.

Nasri hasn't done much since coming on. He is involved here, but has Briggs in his face and can't keep the ball in play. City soon win it back and surge forward.

Briggs thinks he has done enough to force another corner. Milner did put a challenge in on him and did appear to toe the ball behind. Not going to be Fulham's afternoon.

Petric on in place of Dejagah. Corner is delayed, with Karagounis not happy with the ball. His final delivery is terrible and is scuffed along the floor. Not worth the wait!

Ruiz is now operating down the middle for Fulham, with Berbatov spending most of his time on the right wing. Fulham attack down that flank, with Riether able to win a corner off Clichy.

City now knocking the ball around confidently again. Fulham's heads may have dropped now. They haven't offered enough to suggest they are capable of clawing two goals back.

Should have been a hat-trick for Silva. Somehow he drags the ball wide. He maybe had too much time to think about where he was going to put the ball after being sprung one-on-one.

GOAL MAN CITY - SILVA. City double their lead and Silva adds his second of the game. The Spaniard started the move, finding Clichy. The ball is moved on Tevez and back to Silva. He then dinks over Schwarzer and in off the post.

Riether unable to feed a pass through to Berbatov. Good idea, but it was always going to be difficult to see the ball past two City defenders. Clichy leads City out.

Richardson will be forced off. Briggs is thrown on in his place. Both sides have now had to make changes at full-back. Richardson didn't look too bad as he made his way off and his injury may not be too serious.

Richardson has now gone down. He is holding his calf. All a bit stop-start at the moment, which is doing neither side any favours. Jol could be forced into a change here.

Yellow card thrust in the face of Garcia. He saw Ruiz run away from him and he did grab at the Fulham man's shirt. The resulting free-kick comes to nothing.

Zabaleta is still struggling and will have to be replaced. He is hobbling off. He looks like Hangeland caught the top of his foot when clearing. Nasri enters the fray.

Garcia running clear down the City right. He has three to aim at inside the penalty area. His cross isn't the best and comes up short. Tevez and Milner were all alone at the back post if the delivery had come deep.

Milner operating at right-back for now. Zabaleta is back with us, though. He is a tough nut to crack and it will take more than that to cut his afternoon short. Easy to see why the Argentine is such a popular figure at the Etihad.

Finally the corner arrives. Silva swings the ball damgeroiusly into the box. Kompany nods goalwards from eight yards out. Dzeko among those looking to get a touch from in front of Schwarzer, but the Fulham keeper gathers.

Zabaleta back on his feet, but he is hobbling. He doesn't look to be in a good way. Not good news for City with Micah Richards and Maicon sidelined. He is moved behind the goal for further treatment.

Zabaleta racing into the box, looking to get onto the end of a pass hooked in his direction. He stretches to reach the ball with Hangeland and wins a corner. Zabaleta is, however, left in a crumpled heap and will require treatment.

Silva over the set-piece for City. His delivery is nodded clear by a pack of defenders. Zabaleta immediately wins the ball back with a full-blooded challenge. Fans on their feet. They are happy to cheer anything at the moment, it's that cold.

Problem with Berbatov drifitng is that when someone like Hughes fires the ball long down the middle, there is no-one there. The ball runs through to Hart. City look to attack and Richardson is booked for a foul on Milner wide on the City right.

Fulham are frustrating City at the moment. The hosts look a little ragged. Expected changes to be made in the not too distant future. Berbatov wins a free-kick way back inside his own half. Working hard the Fulham frontman.

Another wild effort from Tevez. This one sails high into the stands. Fulham did stand off him on the edge of the box, inviting a shot. Tevez suggests that he had no other option after firing well off target.

Tevez spots Zabaleta running past him and down the right wing. Dejagah does well to track all the way back and cut out an attempted pass. Fulham still lack urgency when they try to counter.

Fulham still playing their football. Jol will be happy with what they have offered since falling behind. That said, City have been able to take things a little easier after going in front so early.

Ironic cheers from the home support as Dejagah runs the ball out of play. Nasri and Balotelli have been sent out to warm up. On the field, Richardson is forunate to get away with a sliced clearance inside his own box.

Silva able to race into space down the City left. He only has Tevez to aim at, and can't pick him out with a low cross. Hughes able to clear. Sidwell calling for calm as Fulham start to leave holes down the flanks.

Sidwell caught on the ball by Tevez. He races off towards goal. He has four to beat, but takes up the challenge. Fulham do just effor to block as Tevez looks to shoot from just inside the box. Fulham break, but Berbatov is pulled up for a foul.

Fulham try their luck down the other flank. A cross from Duff doesn't cause too many problems, but the ball does drop towards Sidwell. He sends a snap-shot well wide of the target.

Fulham still working the ball around. City happy to sit back and let them press. Karagounis tries to inject a pit of pace into the attack, but is then forced wide to Richardson. No way through for him.

Fulham looking to set the tempo at the start of the second period. City running around a lot, but they haven't touched the ball inside the opening 60 seconds.

City get the second half underway. No changes by either side at the interval.

Fulham out early for the second half. City keep them waiting in the cold for a bit. Everyone back out now and we are ready for the off once more.

Remember you can also bet in-play at Skybet.com. City are now 1/9 to take the spoils, with Fulham 25/1 and the draw 7/1. You can get 4/1 on the game ending 1-0.

Man City 1 Fulham 0. The hosts burst out of the blocks and broke the deadlock inside 95 seconds. There hasn't been too much to get excited about at either end since.

Silva finds Tevez on the edge of the box. He has his back to goal and is unable to spin and get a shot away. As City try again, Tevez is involved down their right. He lays the ball back for Dzeko, who fires high and wide from a tight angle.

Milner picks the ball up in space, but gives it away while trying to feed a pass into the feet of Tevez. Fulham amble forward again. Ruiz floats a cross into the heart of the City box, but Dejagah hasn't read the delivery and Kompany can clear.

Ruiz drifts to the dead-ball line. He looks up, but then sweeps the ball behind everyone. Duff is able to collect and send the ball back towards Ruiz. No way through for Fulham as City get numbers back.

Dejagah skips past Zabaleta, who sticks out a leg. The Fulham man goes down, but is waved back to his feet. Harsh as he was clearly caught and the Cottagers would have had a free-kick right on the edge of the box.

Berbatov drifting to the Fulham right again. He is getting involved, but not in areas where he can really hurt City. He needs to be picking the ball up another 20 yards up the field. City aren't letting him.

Dejagah trips Silva. Easy decision for the match officials. City fail to make the most of a free-kick wide on their right as they give the ball straight back to Fulham. Not the best of ends to the half.

Hughes forced to lump clear for Fulham, anywhere will do. The ball ends up back with Hart. Nastasic runs the ball out for City. Nothing doing on this occasion as City can't get the ball to stick with Dzeko.

Fulham still looking to play their way out from the back. Fair play to them for sticking to their guns. They give it away again, though. They are let off the hook as Tevez slips on the edge of the box.

Richardson inside the City half, which hasn't happened too often. He can't get anything going and the ball is back with the hosts. All a bit scrappy, until Nastasic floats a pass out to Silva on the right flank.

Strong challenge involving Garcia and Sidwell. The decision goes Fulham's way, possibly for handball against Garcia. There didn't seem to be too much wrong with the tackle. Milner then works hard to prevent Riether from bursting forward again.

Tevez racing clear and away from Hangeland. He has little to aim at in the middle and is happy to play the ball of Karagounis for a throw deep in the Fulham half. Zabaleta and Silva combine from the throw. The latter crosses, but Barry can't get a touch.

Kompany lofts the ball forward. Hangeland beats Tevez in the air and Fulham can look to get on the front foot again. Duff and Riether are doing well down the Fulham right. Duff's latest delivery is just too long for Ruiz.

Fulham still in this for as long as it stays 1-0. City have taken their foot off the gas slightly, letting the Cottagers back into things. You do, however, get the feeling that City could offer more if they needed to.

Nastasic with a late challenge on Berbatov from behind. Free-kick to Fulham on halfway. They go wide to their left, but can't find a way through. City able to get 10 men back behind the ball.

Great opportunity for Fulham. Duff bends a cross to the back post. Sidwell arrives on cue, but again Zabaleta is there to make life difficult and put the Fulham man off. A glancing header slips inches wide of the post.

City still pressing highup the field when they can. Tevez wins the ball off Hangeland, and sets off towards the penalty area. His shot is blocked by Hangeland and Schwarzer can dive on the loose ball before Silva gets there.

Karagounis fires over a delivery from the Fulham right. He gets the ball to sweep through the box in front of Hart's goal, but no-one in black is able to catch up with the ball and get a toe to it.

Clichy with a foul on Duff. He had a tug on his shirt. Opportunity for Fulham to put the ball into the box from just inside the City half. They opt to go wide to Ruiz, and his delivery from the left is poor. City able to clear.

Good spot from Milner, as he fires a crossfield ball towards Silva. Too much on the pass, but Silva is able to keep the ball in play down by the corner flag. City work the ball out and around again. Milner's diagonal cross from the right is just too high for Tevez, who throws himself at the delivery.

Dejagah tries to meet a hanging cross to the back post. Zabaleta does well to get his body in the way and allow the ball to drift behind. Sloppy from Dejagah moments later as he tries to be clever inside his own half and almost sends Tevez clear into space.

Tevez back on the ball, and this time he decides not to pull the trigger from distance. He instead looks to feed the ball wide to Zabaleta, but puts too move on his pass and watches it roll behind for a goal kick.

Free-kick is fully 35 yards from goal. Tevez is still interested. He does go for goal, but gets his effort woefully wrong and fires low into the wall. Fulham hack the ball to safety.

Silva too good for Karagounis as he skips past the Greek midfielder. Karagounis clips him from behind and is shown the first yellow card of the afternoon.

Fulham starting to see more of the ball now. They aren't doing too much with it, but at least they aren't pegged back inside their own half. More space now in the middle of the park. Among those to make use of that space - Silva.

Richardson floats over the set-piece. Dejagah rises at the front post, but fails to make proper contact. The ball skids away on the far side. Berbatov is able to get involved again, and almost dances his way out of a tight corner. Almost, but not quite and City spring back up to halfway.

Tevez back on the ball, but he is surrounded by three defenders. Fulham able to nick the ball back and bring Berbatov into the game. He sends the ball wide to Duff. He looks to send over a loss cross and sees his effort deflect behind for a corner off Clichy.

Richardson is able to float a cross to the back post, where Clichy heads clear for City. Barry leads the City charge. He then sends the ball wide to the left and Silva. He in turn finds Tevez, who bobbles an effort at Schwarzer from 25 yards out.

Karagounis felled by Silva. Chance for Fulham to slow things down. Berbatov then becomes involved, inside his own half. He slips past Garcia and is pulled to the turf. Free-kick.

Hart closed down by Ruiz, but is able to clear. Dzeko wins an aerial tussle, forcing a throw. Mancini still out waving his arms around. How can anyone understand what he is trying to get across?

Fulham causing themselves problems again as they look to play the ball out. Hangeland and Schwarzer just about get away with it. Riether bombs forward down the Fulham right, but his delivery to the front post finds Zabaleta.

Barry slips through midfield, before sending Silva forward. He sends over an early delivery, right onto the head of Dzeko 15 yards from goal. He can't generate enough power on his effort, and Schwarzer saves comfortably.

Fulham are able to cross on this occasion. There are three black shirts inside the box, but none get near the delivery. The Cottagers then get themselves in a tangle at the back, with Sidwell nodding back towards his own goal and straight at Tevez. Fortunately for Fulham, the ball hits Tevez on the arm.

Duff cuts in off the Fulham right, but decides against a shot or a cross. Again, City force the visitors back to Schwarzer. Fulham need to take a few more chances in the final third. All too easy for City at the moment.

Fulham still can't get anything going. City able to play very high up the field as a result. Kompany and Nastasic seeing plenty of the ball, as they look to find an open path into the Fulham half.

Jol and Mancini out on the touchline. Both demanding more from their troops. On the field, City move down their left once more. Patient from the hosts as they go forwards, and then back to Hart.

Another hopeful punt down the flanks from City comes to nothing, this time from Zabaleta. They don't need to do it, even with Dzeko on the park. They can get closer to him before attempting to pick him out in the box, where he can do damage.

Kompany walking the ball out from the back, while Milner is buzzing around midfield. They get City onto the front foot. Clichy crosses from the left and his delivery is touched on to Zabaleta at the back post. He is unable to gather the ball on his chest. Had he been able to, he would have had a sight of goal.

Eventually Fulham look to put a ball into the box. Sidwell has two bites the cherry, but makes a mess of both. His first delivery is blocked back to him and his second finds the grateful hands of Hart.

Berbatov pulls wide looking to get involved, leaving nobody in the middle. City aware of that fact and are able to close gaps with ease. They let Fulham have the ball midway inside their half, inviting them to do something.

Wayward from Clichy as he looks to go from back to front. I imagine he was looking for the head of Dzeko, but he was nowhere near finding his target. Fulham back on the ball and knock it around well for a moment, until losing it.

Richardson forced to concede a throw as he comes to deal with Milner. City squander possession on two occasions in quick succession. Fulham unable to get the ball into the box and end up back with Schwarzer. Great pressing from the hosts.

Dzeko unable to do anything with a long ball aimed down the City left. He has been in decent form of late and will want to continue that run with Aguero back on the bench.

Hangeland able to deal with a long ball forward. City dominating possession, with Fulham unable to get a look in. They do, however, appear to have pushed Ruiz right up alongside Berbatov.

Informed that City opened the scoring after 95 seconds. Fulham's game plan out of the window already? They now have to come out of their shell a little, surely?

GOAL MAN CITY - SILVA. The hosts take the lead inside the opening two minutes. Schwarzer can only parry a fierce drive from Dzeko and Silva is on hand to rattle home the rebound.

City looking to slip into their passing game right from the off. Fulham already look like they will be happy to get men behind the ball and play on the counter. How long can they keep the Blues out?

Fulham get us up and running.

Blue Moon rings out around the Etihad as we finally arrive at kick-off. Running a little late.

Pre-match formalities underway. Bitterly cold day in the North West, so the players will want to get on with things quickly. City players keep their training tops on until the last possible second.

The teams are in the tunnel so we will have to leave the feedback there for now. There will be further opportunities to have your say at half-time and at the final whistle.

Sefton Monk fears the worst for the visitors, saying: "I haven't seen Fulham play this bad since Lawrie Sanchez was in charge. I thought Mark Hughes was bad as well but he didn't have Dimitar Berbatov and Mladen Petric. Fulham would be lucky to keep the score-line respectable. Jol needs to bring in quality in defensive midfield to replace Sidwell or Fulham won't have a chance at not being sucked into the the relagation zone."

Liam Casey thinks people shouldn't read so much into City's starting XI. He says: "Always surprises me when people say that they don't understand a particular line up if its like for like. Can't make out if they want 4 up front or what. Mancini's gone with Tevez and Dzeko and they want Balotelli and Aguero? or do they want 13 on pitch?"

Jonathan Rogers is forecasting a comfortable afternoon's work for the hosts. He says: "I think City will turn out 3-0 winners with Dzeko scoring 2 and Balotelli scoring 1. Fulham will give City a game but it will be City who I think will take all 3 points!"

Rhys Benjamin says: "Fulham should win as they've rested Berbatov. Fulham were the stronger side against Man Utd earlier and were very unlucky."

Cian Hughes is the first to offer an opinion on today's game, saying: "Should be quite easy for City, but I don't know now Aguero and Balotelli are on the bench? Anyway, 3-0 City, Aguero to come of the bench and get two and Dzeko."

Fulham team: Schwarzer, Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Richardson, Duff, Sidwell, Karagounis, Dejagah, Ruiz, Berbatov. Subs: Etheridge, Senderos, Baird, Petric, Briggs, Rodallega, Kacaniklic.

Man City team: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy, Garcia, Barry, Milner, Tevez, Silva, Dzeko. Subs: Pantilimon, Lescott, Rodwell, Kolarov, Nasri, Balotelli, Aguero.

You can bet in-play throughout the game at Skybet.com. City start as favourites at 2/9, with Fulham 11/1 and the draw 5/1. You can get 16/1 on Carlos Tevez to score first and City to win 3-0.

Will City pick up another three points on home soil or can Fulham spring a surprise? Who will be the men to keep an eye on? Let me know your thoughts.

Martin Jol will be looking for his side to secure a morale-boosting result at the home of the champions, setting them up nicely for less challenging fixtures to come.

Fulham arrive in Manchester having won just one of their last six and two of their last 15. They have dropped into 13th place as a result.

City have won five of their last six to remain very much in the title hunt, with their current form in stark contrast to that of their weekend opponents.

City head into today's encounter looking to close the gap which separates them from table-topping Manchester United to four points - for 24 hours at least.

Welcome to the Etihad Stadium for our coverage of today's Premier League encounter between Manchester City and Fulham.
