Shwan Jalal: To continue for Cherries

Bournemouth goalkeeper Shwan Jalal is set to get the nod again as the Cherries welcome Crewe after starting an league match for the first time since September.

The former Peterborough shotstopper was given the nod over David James at Hartlepool on Tuesday night and looks likely to continue in goal as Eddie Howe's men eye their second win this week.

Midfielders Harry Arter (calf) and Marc Pugh (dead leg) both shrugged off their injuries to play 90 minutes in the 2-1 win and should start again against the Railwaymen.

One player who was not involved was new signing Ryan Fraser, who picked up a hip injury, but the Scot is only two weeks away from a return to training.

Fellow midfielder Shaun MacDonald's comeback from injury is ahead of schedule. The Welshman started doing ball work on Thursday and he should return to full training with the squad at the start of February.

Daryl Flahavan and Stephen Purches remain on the comeback trail, while striker Charlie Sheringham is making good progress and the striker will be re-introduced to first team training in the next few weeks.

Crewe manager Steve Davis has the luxury of a fully-fit squad to pick from.

Goalkeeper Alan Martin was the Railwaymen's only worry but is set to return to the matchday 18 having resumed training following a foot injury.

But Alex must do without Chuks Aneke after the youngster returned to Arsenal at the end of his loan spell.

Although negotiations between the clubs remain ongoing, it is unlikely a renewed deal will be reached in time for the weekend.

Alex are looking for their first win in three league matches having taken a point from their last two and lie 13th in the table - six points shy of the Cherries, who occupy the final play-off spot.
