Many thanks for joining me. Some of us said 2-2 at the start of the game. If that's not worth a follow at @danielstorey85, then nothing is!
And that's full time...
90+1
Three added minutes here
90
Well well, Southampton put in so much effort to get level and then in front, only to lose that lead within three minutes.
89
2-2 Equaliser!!! Heartbreak for the Saints. Shaun Maloney sweeps home a Scharner knock down. What drama
89
Wigan gain a corner. Last chance for the home side?
87
Can Wigan respond now. They look a beaten side but in truth have simply not been good enough today
86
What a team goal that is. Nothing more than Saints deserve for their display today. A fabulous run from Rodriguez and he finds Schneiderlin who ends a lung-busting run with a fine finish
GOAL!!! 2-1 to Southampton.
84
Wigan gain a corner, and will pile everyone forward
82
Wigan have begun to look a little more certain in possession, but this is a game you feel they have to win if they want to avoid a relegation scrap
81 Ward-Prowse on for Puncheon
80
Chance for Wigan as the ball is played in, but Luke Shaw does brilliantly to get back and conceded a corner.
79
We move into the last ten minutes. Can either side force a vital winner here?
77
Such high tempo stuff here at the DW from the visitors. This has been a wonderful second half
76
Rodriguez shoots from thirty yards, but it doesn't trouble Al-Habsi
75 Espinoza off for McManaman
74
Puncheon strikes from the edge of the area after a Lambert pull back, but the first time shot cannot be controlled
73
Appeals for handball in the WIgan box as they are frantic and desperate to clear the ball, before Lambert volleys just wide. How long can Wigan cope?
72
Lallana hits the post after the corner is played back into the box. Another let off for Wigan.
71
A cross from Puncheon is blocked behind for a corner
69
Finally Wigan are beginning to settle on the ball and try to play. This is a big 20 minutes now for both sides
67
A shot from Davis is blocked but the rebound falls to Rodriguez who volleys at goal. Again the ball is blocked but Wigan are rocking here
66
Wigan immediately respond by having their first pressure of the second half. So they can do it!
64
Nothing more than Southampton deserve. A cross finds Lambert at the back post, and he is brave to head past Al-Habsi.
64
GOAL for Southampton!!!
62
Brilliant feet from Rodriguez. It only wins a throw in, but he is really growing in confidence in the Premier League
60 Adam Lallana coming on for right back Clyne. Could be a shirt in formation too
59
What a chance for the Saints. Brilliant play from Lambert to find Rodriguez, but he fails to get a certain enough connection
57
Roberto martinez has switched to a flat back four to try and get a hold on this game. Even though they are winning, he can see the impending danger
56 Ronnie Stam replaced by Jordi Gomez
56
Hooiveld free at the back post, but the ball is a touch too high
55
Corner to Southampton. They really do deserve to be level here
54
Appeals for a penalty for a foul on Lambert, but nothing doing
53 Jack Cork booked for tugging back Espinoza
51
Decent ball from Schneiderlin, but no attacking player to make the most of it
51
Davis wins a free kick around thirty yards out on the left hand side
49
Wigan just cannot get a foot on the ball at the start of this half
48
Great touch from Paul Scharner to stretch and head clear. Vital with Lambert waiting behind him
47
Espinoza miscontrols, and Southampton are immediately once again in control
46
We are back underway...
46 Steven Davis will be coming on for Ramirez, who has a dead leg
A strange half. Southampton have been much better, although it has been a touch scrappy, but Wigan have the lead after Southampton failed to pick up men from a corner. Join me for more in fifteen minutes.
45+1
A Lambert cross finds Rodriguez, who heads across goal. Wigan will be pleased to go in ahead here
45
Wigan desperate for the half time whistle as Saints begin to ramp up the pressure. We will have two extra minutes
43
Ramirez has a dead leg after an aerial challenge with Espinoza. The Wigan midfielder has looked well up for the physical battle today
42
Scramble in the Wigan box, but they finally clear. Saints looking better before the break
41
Maloney tries an effort from outside the area, but fails to get the bend he needs and it drifts wide
40
Puncheon with another wasteful path. He has been poor with the ball so far
39
Hooiveld heads wide from the corner. Close, but there was a defender on the line
38
Clyne wins a corner, forcing McCarthy to put the ball behind
37
Lambert fails to control in the area. It hasn't been a brilliant half for the big striker
36
Another clearance charged down, this time Caldwell's. Wigan getting caught in possession too often
35
Southampton need a spell of pressure here to get themselves back into this game. Good invention and creativity but with no end product
34
Maloney wins a corner. At times he looks slightly uncertain on the win, but does well here
32 Jay Rodriguez booked for a lunge on Beausejour. I'd call that an orange...
32
The passing has really dropped off in the last few minutes
30
The game has gone really scrappy as both sides struggle to hold on to the game, before Jason Puncheon drags it wide
29
Mauricio Pochettino will be so disappointed that his side were on top but conceded from a set piece
27
Clearance from McCarthy strikes Schneiderlin, and the ball rebounds over Al-Habsi, who does well to claw it behind, just ten seconds after the restart
27
It is a great header from the captain, but woeful marking from Southampton.
26 GOAL!!! 1-0 Wigan. Against the run of play Gary Caldwell heads home
25
And then Espinoza relieves that pressure by winning a corner
24
Southampton are pressuring Wigan, but as yet their hosts are solid in defence.
22
Wigan slightly at fault for trying to play their way from the back. With Southampton snapping at heels, they need to be careful
21
Southampton just seem a little busier in midfield, winning the second ball more often than not and playing the more fluid football
20
Game enters something of a lull after both sides swap those two chances
18
Maloney gets the ball from Espinoza, but runs out of pace and overruns the ball
17
Huge chance for Ramirez. Cross from Lambert finds him in huge amount of space. Has time to take a touch, but hits it first time well over the bar.
16
Schneiderlin has a talking to from Andre Marriner. That's three fouls now from the Frenchman
15
Puncheon crosses with height, allowing Al-Habsi to come out and make an impressive claim
14
Just as I was typing that Di Santo had looked quiet and isolated
14
Chance for Wigan. Di Santo gets into the game for the first time, and Boruc makes a fine diving stop.
12
Pretty even opening ten minutes, but no real chances as yet
12
Maloney crosses. It is a decent delivery, but Boruc comes out well to claim
11
Southampton fans making a huge amount of noise here. A huge travelling army
10
Morgan Schneiderlin has made more tackles than any other player in the PL this season. Stat attack
9
Lambert wins a header in the area, but no one to link up with and it runs through to Al-Habsi
8
Puncheon floats the ball in, but it's beyond Lambert and Rodriguez
8
Two corners from Maloney, but neither beat the first man
7
Wigan win the first corner, won by Ronnie Stam
6
Paul Scharner has slotted into central defence, and his every touch is cheered
5
Wigan win a couple of early free kicks as they look to counter a frantic start from the Saints
4
Schneiderlin with the shot, but it's comfortably over
3
A bright start to the game, both sides looking to get forward.
2
Ramirez looks bright early on here, aiming to get on the ball whenever possible
2
Ramirez attacks down the left but his cross is cut out.
1
Shot from Espinoza from thirty yards out, but well wide
1
We are underway...
The teams are out. Suggest we may kick off a minute or two late here
Wigan have taken just nine home points this season. That's not too pretty is it?
Fair play to Southampton, they have taken a good contingent to Wigan today. That's quite a journey, and they've missed out on our sparkling live commentary. Real shame
Paul Scharner does get a good reception, however. He may be slightly kooky but he is much-loved round these parts
It would be pushing it to say that the DW is packed to the rafters. Some serious filling up needed in the next fifteen minutes
Alex Dawber also reckons we'll have goals, goals, goals: "I think we're in for goals galore, 3-2 Wigan and Lambert first goal."
What's that, you want a prediction from me? 2-2, with Jay Rodriguez scoring first
Southampton: Boruc, Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Shaw, Puncheon, Schneiderlin, Cork, Ramírez, Rodriguez, Lambert Subs: K. Davis, S. Davis, Fox, Ward-Prowse, Lee, Lallana, Richardson
Wigan: Al Habsi, McCarthy, Caldwell, Di Santo, Maloney, McArthur, Espinoza, Beausejour, Stam, Figueroa, Scharner Subs: Robles, Jones, Henriquez, Gomez, McManaman, Golobart, Campabadal
A reminder of both teams:
Dance music pumping out around the DW at a volume I'd label as offensive. Still gets folks going I suppose
Alex Mavroidakis has been in touch: "Wigan 0 Saints 2 - heard it here first. The Saints are way better than their league position suggests"
This relegation scrap is pretty tight to call, with the Latics 6/5 and Saints 9/4 to earn a much-needed three points on the road. Soton have thrown away 22 points from leading positions this season, so look at them to bag first (11/10) but Wigan to come back and take at least a point (23/10).
A little betting tempter for you..
Mauricio Pochettino is still looking for his first Saints win, but his side gained a great deal of plaudits for how they played against Manchester United in midweek. Still, no points for plaudits eh?
I would like you get in touch with me on Twitter @danielstorey85. Predictions, thoughts and follows, I feed off them all
Al Habsi, McCarthy, Caldwell, Di Santo, Maloney, McArthur, Espinoza, Beausejour, Stam, Figueroa, Scharner Subs: Robles, Jones, Henriquez, Gomez, McManaman, Golobart, Campabadal
And now Wigan, who give Paul Scharner his second debut. That may be an oxymoron
Boruc, Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Shaw, Puncheon, Schneiderlin, Cork, Ramírez, Rodriguez, Lambert (c) Subs: K. Davis, S. Davis, Fox, Ward-Prowse, Lee, Lallana, Richardson
I have the Southampton side for you. Adam Lallana is not fit enough to start following injury.
Wigan have not won at home since November, or at all in the Premier League since December. It's a good day to start.
I'm Daniel Storey, by the way, lovely to have you on board. You can get in touch with me at @danielstorey85
A few may disagree, but I reckon we are in for a good game this afternoon.
Good afternoon to you. Well? Good... we've got a relegation battle for you.
