Andy Barcham: Nursing a thigh injury

Scunthorpe winger Andy Barcham will be handed a late fitness test ahead of the home game with Crawley.

Barcham, forced out of last week's home win over Portsmouth with a thigh injury and replaced by Mike Grella, remains doubtful but striker Robbie Gibbons is back in contention following illness.

Manager Brian Laws has no other new injury worries and is not expected to make too many changes.

Midfielder Josh Walker stepped off the substitutes' bench last week to make his first appearance since November due to ankle ligament damage and is pushing for a place in the starting line-up, while Laws must decide whether to retain the partnership of Paul Reid and Niall Canavan in central defence or recall David Mirfin.

Defender Christian Ribeiro and midfielder Damien Mozika remain sidelined due to hamstring injuries.

Joe Walsh will be back in the Crawley squad when they travel to the Iron.

The defender was not available for Tuesday night's trip to Sheffield United as he was on international duty with Wales' Under-21s, but the Bramall Lane clash was postponed anyway.

Striker Jimmy Spencer will not be involved after his loan spell from Huddersfield was cut short by a knee injury, while defender Kyle McFadzean is still recovering from a virus.

Boss Richie Barker handed full debuts to full-back Mustapha Dumbuya, midfielder Matt Sparrow and striker Jamie Proctor in the 1-1 draw with Swindon last Saturday and all three should keep their places.

Centre-half Connor Essam was on the bench following his recent switch from Gillingham and will be pushing to make his debut.
