Paul Reid: Faces late fitness test

Scunthorpe manager Brian Laws is hoping skipper Paul Reid recovers from illness.

Reid missed the home weekend defeat to Hartlepool and was replaced by David Mirfin, but Laws expects the central defender to return on Tuesday night.

Laws is also hoping winger Mark Duffy can shake off the knock he sustained in a heavy challenge from Hartlepool midfielder Simon Walton to keep his spot in the starting line-up.

Striker James Alabi, signed on loan from Stoke last week, scored on his debut at the weekend after replacing Akpo Sodje in the second half and is pushing for his first start.

Defender Callum Kennedy remains sidelined with a hamstring injury that is expected to rule him out for another six weeks as the Iron look to bounce back from two straight league defeats.

Stevenage will check on Greg Tansey and Filipe Morais ahead of the trip to Scunthorpe.

Tansey missed Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Shrewsbury due to bruised ribs and fellow midfielder Morais has also been carrying a knock.

Gavin Mahon stepped into midfield at the weekend following his loan switch from Notts County late last week and is likely to keep his place following an impressive first appearance.

Andy Iro is still waiting to make his Boro debut after recently returning from a two-month loan spell at Barnet, but fellow defender Jon Ashton remains a long-term absentee with an Achilles injury.

Boss Gary Smith made four changes on Saturday and there could be more as he attempts to end their four-game losing run.
